La venta de vehículos ligeros nuevos en México alcanzó niveles históricos durante los primeros cinco meses de 2026, impulsada por el crecimiento sostenido del mercado automotriz y una mayor demanda de unidades en distintas categorías. Datos de la Asociación Mexicana de la Industria Automotriz (AMIA), la Asociación Mexicana de Distribuidores de Automotores (AMDA) y el Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía (INEGI) confirmaron que el sector registró su mejor desempeño para un periodo enero-mayo desde que existen registros comparables.

Durante mayo de 2026 se comercializaron 127 mil 100 vehículos ligeros nuevos en territorio nacional, cifra que representó un incremento anual de 4.9 por ciento respecto al mismo mes de 2025. El resultado consolidó la tendencia positiva observada desde el inicio del año y reforzó la relevancia de la industria automotriz dentro de la economía mexicana. El comportamiento del mercado reflejó una demanda constante en distintos segmentos de consumidores.

En el acumulado de enero a mayo, las ventas ascendieron a 627 mil 609 unidades nuevas, volumen superior a las 598 mil 460 reportadas durante el mismo periodo del año anterior. El crecimiento de 4.9 por ciento permitió establecer un nuevo máximo histórico para los primeros cinco meses del año. Los indicadores sectoriales ubicaron a 2026 como uno de los ejercicios más dinámicos de los últimos años.

Liderazgo de mercado

La firma Nissan conservó la primera posición en participación de mercado al concentrar 17.2 por ciento de las ventas nacionales durante el periodo analizado. En segundo lugar se ubicó General Motors con 13.1 por ciento, mientras que Volkswagen alcanzó 10.9 por ciento. Estas compañías mantuvieron una presencia determinante dentro de la industria automotriz mexicana.

La clasificación continuó con Toyota, que registró una participación de 8.2 por ciento, seguida por KIA, con 7.2 por ciento. Ambas armadoras consolidaron su presencia mediante una oferta diversificada de vehículos para distintos segmentos. Sus resultados contribuyeron al fortalecimiento general del mercado nacional.

Otras marcas con participación relevante fueron Mazda, con 6.8 por ciento, y Stellantis, con 6.5 por ciento del mercado. En conjunto, estas empresas concentraron una proporción significativa de las ventas registradas en el país. La diversidad de fabricantes mantuvo una competencia activa dentro del sector automotor. –sn–

Hey @lrasmus! Do you think anyone in the #AMIA #FOSS community with server admin background would be interested in spinning up an unofficial #AMIAInformatics #mastodon instance? A couple of folks have asked me about an AMIA one, and I doubt AMIA itself would do it.

Hey @lrasmus! Do you think anyone in the #AMIA #FOSS community with server admin background would be interested in spinning up an unofficial #AMIAInformatics #mastodon instance? A couple of folks have asked me about an AMIA one, and I doubt AMIA itself would do it.

I can see both pros and cons. Pro: we can find each other more easily and create tighter community. Cons: talking more to ourselves than to others?
