  1. How com I can't move the 'Getting Started' column (really would like to actually pin the #Explore column) in the #Mastodon #AdvancedWebInterface? I want to set it up with Explore > Home > Notifications.

  2. Boy, this latest update to Mastodon is great! I use the Advanced Web Interface in my browser, and until now images did not display in the Notifications feed, just a link to the image. Thus I was constantly clicking to see the images (and also often just skipping them).

Now images are displayed in the Notifications column, and it's wonderful. I was missing a lot.

  3. Anyone else having this problem with the #AdvancedWebInterface on pc?
It was working fine until recently. Now whenever I open mastodon on desktop or laptop it defaults to single column. Clicking into settings and back out again reverts to the advanced interface.
Both PCs use firefox on Linux Mint.

  4. Question for people using the #AdvancedWebInterface:

I generally use my arrow keys to gradually scroll a web page as I read. But in those cases that I manage to get the rightmost #mastodon pane to respond to arrow keys at all, it behaves according to "skip one full post up/down" instead of a predictable amount of motion.

Am I just stuck with this? Does anyone have a way to make it move nicely?

  5. I think it would make much more sense for a 'reset the columns' icon if it looked like this:

  6. #AdvancedWebInterface on this shit is great.

    excellent for lists.

    perfect for mentions & DMS.

very useful for a local column..

bookmarks: if there's some post that has resources or content you wanna keep in circulation... bookmark it, pin a bookmark column, and then just RT it periodically until nobody wants to follow you anymore!

  7. @ClintonAnderson

Your #Home #feed contains all the posts and #boosts of people you #follow

#Boosting gives people the opportunity to share and see unique content from everywhere

Your #Local feed contains all #posts of people in your #instance

The #Federated feed shows you the #Fediverse

If you use the #AdvancedWebInterface (in #Preferences) you can #pin each feed in a separate column, or (pin) follow an individual #hashtag without subscribing it into your Home feed

  8. 🎁 #Mastodon #UX/#UI holiday wishlist:

    1. When using #advancedwebinterface, allow posts to be expanded (and replied to) in-column when clicked, rather than appearing in the column at the verrrrrrrry end.

    2. Or, at least, when using advanced web interface, allow "Getting started" column to be moveable

That's all, Santa darling. That's all. I know you're working very hard this season. Kisses to the missus. 💋 🤶

  9. CW: #MastodonTips

#TIL in Mastodon's #AdvancedWebInterface, you can use number and arrow keys to navigate the columns (e.g. press 2️⃣ to move to the notifications column, then ⬆️/⬇️ to move through notifications, then the "enter" key to open a single message).

  10. Is there a way to #customize what you see with the #advancedwebinterface? I'd love to use it for certain things. But it also seems like info overload having 4 different screens show up. Can you customize or #resize these tabs? Or even select the tabs that you want to see? #mastodon

  11. Okay. So in the #AdvancedWebInterface, I've got a column all the way to the right that I'm trying to get rid of and I can't figure it out. Anybody know how to make it go away?

  13. @MattTheQuick I’ve found that there is no experience that betters the #AdvancedWebInterface on my #iPad.

  14. What I've learned while setting up #feeds:

    > Slow Mode & #AdvancedWebInterface are great
    > AWI lets you pin anything – including #hashtag searches
    > You can add extra terms to a pinned search (OR, AND, and NOT ops, up to 4 terms each)
    > Searches become topic-focused feeds
    > Search can only search your Federated #feed or local feed (i.e. people on your instance and those they follow)
    > You'll miss A LOT if you're not on a big instance w/ a #firehose Federated Feed
