Does anyone know of any #FOSS or open web adjacent conferences in the #UK this year that are looking for people to give talks? I'd love to do a talk about my #11tyCMS project! #Programming boosts welcome!

Our second beta build is here! https://11tycms.com/blog/posts/11tycms-new-logo-major-bug-fixes-improved-uxui-metadata-overhaul-and-more/
It's been _such_ a busy month for 11tyCMS's development. Major bug fixes, huge UI/UX improvements _and_ new features! We talk about donation options, and our new starter blog and our response to Build Awesome's release.
Get the builds while they're hot!

Any advice on #FOSS fundraising welcome!
I'm looking to setup some donation pages for my FOSS #11tyCMS project. I've looked at Open Collective and Buy Me a Coffee. Buy Me a Coffee looks like the most sensible right now: 11tyCMS's user base is tiny (for now), and it feels like any donations will likely be one offs.
Are there any platforms I should be aware of? I have also thought of Patreon but I think it might be best to wait until I have a better website for 11tyCMS, and more advertising and outreach. #programming

One feature and improvement among many for the next update: you can now specify default metadata fields in your collections “11tydata” file. Whenever you add a file, the metadata fields will populate by default for you to edit!
A new release is on the horizon with SO many quality of life improvements. #11ty #11tyCMS

Very excited about all the tweaks I've been working on for #11tyCMS ! So many quality of life improvements, hopefully a few new features before the next release.
I'm on a war against jank with 11tyCMS, hopefully it'll be evident soon!

Some major bugs were fixed today! Very exciting things ahead. Another release is on the horizon. Stay tuned! We've taken the issues backlog from nearly 20 down to 9 since yesterday. #11tyCMS

This wasn't a binding vote... However: with the concerning direction of #Discord , I have decide to opt for Matrix. We now have an official space at: #11tycms:matrix.org .

I want to build a community for #11tyCMS, lets decide where it lives. This is *not* binding, more just to get a taste of what the community would be interested in.
This community would be for developers, and for users to get support integrating or using 11tyCMS.

One of the most shocking things about #Electron development is how difficult publishing can be.
With #11tyCMS development, it's been so hard to create builds for Windows, Mac and Linux targeting x64 and ARM architecture. Turns out, sqlite3 doesn't rebuild itself for the arch youre targeting... Which means you have to build it on your target arch.
Thankfully, I bought a Thinkcentre and chucked a Linux and Windows VM on there. Not quite what I had in mind though!
I've also found the Flatpak support with #ElectronForge to be a little lacking for customisation. Particularly if you want to include packages like `git` and `node`. So far, the best solution I have is a Docker compose file that can package the binary into a flatpak.
But targeting all 3 platforms across different architectures? Honestly? No idea yet. But I'm brainstorming! #JavaScript

We finally have a working Linux build! Unfortunately we can’t distribute with AppImages or Flatpaks at this time. Though, in time we’ll figure out AppImages for sure.
The Linux build will be a zip file containing the 11tyCMS binary for now.

We finally have the first early beta builds of #11tyCMS ready! They’ll be released in a few days. I need to write a README, some warnings and prepare a launch blog post.
Note we don’t have any official uploads to Flathub yet. I’m currently figuring out how Flatpak packaging for Electron works.

I can happily report that I’ve finished wrapping up the last of the final changes to bring us out of alpha and into early beta! I’m now testing #11tyCMS on Windows and Linux to ensure it works correctly.
There’s a few problems, but ones I hope will be relatively easy to rectify before release. Watch this space! #11ty

Another exciting evening for #11tyCMS ! Implementation of nested collection folders has begun. It’s not working yet, but the solution is coming along. Better yet? The code involved with opening sites has been further refactored.
Hoping to complete the other half of the solution tomorrow. After that, we’ll investigate compatibility on Windows and Linux… Then it’s time to release the first build! #11ty

Ok, we have it working… For real this time!!! Full `alt` support for our editor. Beautiful!!! A few CSS fixes are in order, and I’ll start writing another blog post 👀 #11tyCMS #Accessibility

Did some CSS tweaks today, getting the alignment of elements better, along with fixing a few regressions from the config file implementation.
Some BIG #accessibility gains today! You can navigate #11tyCMS entirely with your keyboard now. There’s other accessibility gains to come, one of them an image `alt` tag feature.
But major CSS refactoring is needed, it’s a nightmare to maintain. That will be coming soon!

I also want to apologize for any disabled readers of the #11tyCMS blog: I know it’s falling short right now. Alt tags are not a thing for images, it’s not to my standard and I will fix this as soon as possible.

I want #11tyCMS to become #accessible, and I also want it to encourage it's users to make the #indieweb accessible by design. We'll see how it ends up, but I'm doing a lot of thinking about this right now. Already looks like we'll have to modify the Milkdown editor, but hopefully nothing too catastrophic.

One of the key focuses I’m hoping for in the next update is #accessibility … There’s a lot of things right now about #11tyCMS that make it not very accessible. Keyboard only navigation is basically non existent as you can’t highlight key elements with your keyboard.
Theres a huge lack of focus styling too. I’ll try my hardest to see if I can get `alt`/image captions working on milkdown too. Not sure if it’s supported in Milkdown yet. If it’s not, I’ll see if I can contribute that as an addition

Very happy to report that #11tyCMS now (mostly) works with the `eleventy-base-blog` ! This isn’t fit yet though, I need to refactor the code to handle it gracefully.
Unfortunately, Javascript support in the front matter data of posts is limited. Unless you export an object, the post *will* be excluded from the collection post lists.
