The bigger issue though is that I've set up a *lot* of friends and family members with streaming sticks, and I'd love to be able to recommend one with a better privacy stance than the cheap stuff. One that doesn't report everything you watch to advertisers by default, and (in some cases) record your living room for analysis by the same advertisers. But I can't, because they're too expensive.
If they had a $50 streaming stick I'd be able to make the argument that "this one's a bit more, but it doesn't spy on you". But at 10x the price? They'd laugh in my face.
It's just frustrating to me that the one "big tech" company that has a semi-decent privacy record seems to be completely uninterested in playing in this space.
