A Beaverton contractor has been fined $317,587 for alleged repeated job safety violations by Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Division.
Oregon OSHA said on Thursday that it cited Luka’s General Construction LLC after inspecting a jobsite in Molalla where the construction company was working on the roof of a two-story house.
OSHA said the company was not using any systems to protect workers from falling as much as 19 feet. And, despite employees wearing fall protection harnesses, the harnessers were not connected to any anchors, OSHA said.
Inspectors also said they found other safety violations, some of which were fifth and sixth-repeat violations within two years.

Kenda Freeman said her son, Kaylub Giamanco, intervened by firing his own weapon after the shooting began at his daughters’ school in the town of Bend.

Cases like the Oregon intervention remain rare, according to the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training Center at Texas State University.
The ALERRT center tracked what it calls 'active attack' incidents where the perpetrator used firearms, blades or vehicles from 2000 to 2025.
Out of 634 cases studied, 374 ended before police arrived. Among those, 29 ended when armed civilians shot the attacker. In another 31 incidents, civilians subdued the attacker by some other method, such as wrestling them to the ground or removing the weapon.
'They recognize they may be the only way to stop it before law enforcement arrives,' said James Keith, a spokesperson for the center.

Officials did not confirm the name of the father who intervened and fatally shot the suspect.
But Kaylub Giamanco's family has identified him to US media as the person who sprang into action.
The 36-year-old carpenter had just finished lunch and was on his way home when he passed the school, his brother told NBC News. He saw the suspect open fire on a vehicle outside the school then shoot through a window and go inside.
Police said he had a legally concealed .40 calibre in his vehicle and his brother said he grabbed the pistol 'and decided to go in after' the suspect. Police say he fired at the suspect 'multiple times', killing him.
Giamanco's mother, Kenda Freeman, who lives in Sacramento, California, told a local CBS station her son had called her moments after the shooting, and he was 'traumatised'.
'He said a man went into my daughter's school,' Freeman said, pausing as she started to tear up. 'And, um, shot kids. And he said, and I looked at him point blank, and I shot and killed him, mom.'
She added: 'I told him he saved a lot of lives, and he said, mom, I couldn't save them all.'"
