  1. I love #CollegeFootball and I'm a #MichiganWolverines fan. Last night the Wolverines were awarded a win against the #WesternMichigan Broncos after a controversial ending. (youtube.com/shorts/YUO7vN7fGdI) I don't really see anyway that Michigan should have won that, and I actually hope the win is overturned.

I do understand why the fans stormed the field, though. They'd spent the entire second half worried that Western was going to win. (Western may have had more possession time in the second half than Michigan had all game.) The 2007 loss to Appalachian State ("The Horror") was devastating and none of the fans wanted to see that happen. As far as they knew in that moment, the added second was legit and then Michigan made an amazing hail Mary play to win.

There might be an argument that there was actually a fraction of a second left when the game clock showed 0:00. From a programming perspective, perhaps the clock shows round(currentTime) instead of ceiling(currentTime). I don't really buy that, because delay of game penalties are called when the play clock hits 0 seconds. It's always seemed to me that it's showing the ceiling, not a rounding of the time, so I'd have a hard time believing that.

From what I see, the only way the second should have been put back on is if (1) the game clock in the stadium shows the rounded time AND (2) the clock the refs look at during reviews shows the ceiling time instead. (TW: cursing youtube.com/shorts/9hqEIcXD9-I) If that's really the case, then that is NOT what the fans expect and fans in general should be quite upset about the difference between expectation and reality.

  2. Why Michigan got 1 second put back on clock before controversial win vs. Western Michigan

Where exactly did that one second come from for Michigan? That question is going to be asked a…

  3. I'm sorry, but #MichiganWolverines shouldn't have won their game over #WesternMichigan.

That wasn't a miracle win; it was an ominous sign for a team with a quarterback who didn't improve over last year, handed a win by bad refs. They were dominated by a MAC team. At home. Until the refs rescued them.

The Wolverines caught every break in the final 8 minutes of the game: overlooking a clear facemask; a running into the kicker foul; gave them a second back when the QB spiked the ball; then gave them another second back when the game clock ran zero with a throw through the back of the end zone.

Even the NBC's announcers and their expert ref noted the anomalies.

Western Michigan controlled the game, holding onto the ball 2:1. Michigan's offense took just 48 snaps. Until that second Hail Mary, Bryce Underwood had thrown for just 123 yards. At home.

They say teams make huge improvements between their first and second games; for their sake, I hope they do before they go down to Norman.

  4. Michigan fires coach Sherrone Moore due to inappropriate relationship with staff member

Sherrone Moore has been a part of Michigan’s program as a coach in some way since 2018. Luke…

  5. Right now Michigan (where both my parents and one of my brothers went, and where my dad and brother both pitched) is playing Oregon (where my wife went, in the state where I've lived for 34 years) in football.

    So I'm wearing my team's colors: #Michigan #Oregon #MichiganWolverines #OregonDucks #MGOBLUE

  6. Harold E. "Butch" Woolfolk (born March 1, 1960) is an American former professional football player who was a #runningBack and #kickReturner in the #NationalFootballLeague (NFL). He played #collegeFootball for the #MichiganWolverines (1978–1981) before playing in the NFL for the #NewYorkGiants (1982–1984), #HoustonOilers (1985–1986) and #DetroitLions (1987–1988). Woolfolk attended #WestfieldSeniorHighSchool in #WestfieldNewJersey. Woolfolk led Michigan in #rushing three straight years.

  7. Listening to the @[email protected] podcast "The Perfect Season" posted three days ago, and I am motivated to add my own list of amazing #MichiganFootball moments from this season they didn't mention.

    1) 1000 wins in Maryland. We've had a lot of crazy cool stats happen in the past twenty years, in the middle of tough seasons. To get to four digits in this championship season is amazing. The team was ready with celebratory signs, so it didn't matter that it wasn't in Ann Arbor.

    2) Sherrone Moore's interview after the Penn State game. I didn't even notice all the curse words because I could feel his emotions and I was nearly brought to tears myself. youtube.com/watch?v=CQs91yT9vI

    3) 5 sacks against Alabama in the first half of the Rose Bowl. I don't know all the football terms so I only follow the MGoBlog explanations so far, but I knew that getting to Milroe was vital because of what they said. Seeing that materialize was so validating that the MGoBlog analysis was right on. It was like being an MGoBlog reader for 18 years was paying off.

    4) Mike Sainristil double interception game against Maryland. I love when we pick them off and it was great to see two from Mikey.

There are so many more. What a great season! #MichiganWolverines #CollegeFootball #MGoBlue #MGoBlog

  8. The #MichiganWolverines are the 2023 National Champions! (US football 🏈) Yay!

    #GoBlue!

I know I'm not connected to a lot of college football people in the fediverse, but this win is a huge deal for me.

  10. I just realized that I've never made love WHILE watching the #MichiganWolverines beat #OhioState. Looks like I may need to run out for flowers and bubbly at halftime, as part of persuading my bride that this is an excellent idea. Wish me luck. #NCAAfootball #Michigan #MichiganFootball
