  7. I did it!!! I actually did it!! Needed a lot of help because my god the documentation is bad, SO much info left out because it is assumed, but I actually managed to get a dinky little #HomeAssistant server up and running on my old-as-dirt #RaspberryPi 3. Next steps are configuring my #EcoBee, syncing the Sonoff temp/humidity sensors with the server, and building a dashboard.

  8. I don't always give myself credit for things I've put a lot of time into learning. Usually because I only achieve moderate success at any given thing, which, honestly? That's fine. So here are my #coffee brewing notes, a brief chronicle of figuring out how to make my #KalitaWave work for my ideal daily pour. Still a work in progress but it's a satisfying little ritual.

  9. Oh. Maybe that's part of why this poem wasn't poem-ing. It wasn't supposed to be a poem after all.

  10. Yesterday after a long #weightlifting hiatus I realized I can easily #deadlift 85lb for reps. I'm legitimately thrilled! At this time last year I had never even attempted any of the big three lifts. Despite a lot of setbacks and inconsistency, I've made so much progress. Really proud of how strong I've become!

  11. Pushed through some frustrating challenges including (hopefully) the last dregs of a migraine and got in some #weightlifting today! Tried cable pullover for the first time, was thoroughly humbled and loved it. Worked on my #deadlift form too, which needs a lot of love. #benchpress is next on my list to improve.

  12. Nifty list of #SelfHosing solutions: blog.prosperitea.net/the-mainf

I'd be curious to know if you've tried implementing any of them!

  13. I simply cannot get over how good #StarTrek #StrangeNewWorlds is. It's the only modern Trek show (aside from #LowerDecks, which is also superb) that really understands the heart of the show. And they're working in every single classic trope without making it feel pandering or cheap!! Doesn't hurt that I've been a huge #CaptainPike fan since I watched the #TOS pilot a million years ago.

Plus, that intro. I get chills every time.

  14. What's your favorite #LowFODMAP #recipe website? We had luck with fodmapeveryday before it got absolutely enormous. Most of the recipes feel a bit to complex for a quick dinner these days (even the "easy" ones).

  15. Welp, for some reason it seems my county has stopped sending #COVID #WastewaterMonitoring data to #Biobot. Cool to know that keeping ourselves safe is entirely up to personal responsibility and also we're just gonna shut down the last tool we had to calculate personal risk tolerance. Nifty. Neat.

  21. Where are my folks? My yard was never precisely verdant and with this intense summer heat I'm feeling just about despondent over the lack of green in my life. How are you all coping? Any clever tricks to coax a little life into your yards that I could try for next season?

  26. Watched #FireofLove tonight. Absolutely gorgeous film, and helped get me unblocked with the #essay I'm working on. The film is more like a #CreativenonFiction #CNF piece than any movie I've ever seen, and I loved that approach to the narrative.

  27. Hi it's #FollowFriday and I want to follow any #LitJournal that publishes #poetry and/or #FlashFiction and/or #essays and everybody who shares those genres!! Recently found a couple awesome folks who do and I would love to follow more.

  28. Love seeing folks sharing when they get work #published. So much fun to help share and learn about new lit mags in the process!

That said, seems like I've got exclusively prose people in my feed. Where's my #PoetryOfMastodon #poetry?

Nothing against prose, mind you, I just miss #poetrytwitter

  29. I'm starting to think that maybe 3-5 essays for #MuseumPiece will be halfway decent and worth anybody's time to read (if I'm very lucky). On the one hand, it makes me feel horribly selfconscious about putting crappy work into the world. On the other, I'm hoping it'll help refine my sense of what's good and what sucks more quickly than letting the pieces sit unread. And if nothing else, posting it all keeps me accountable.

  30. One more #essay before I head back to the business of everyday life. Airports, artwork, and the complexities of coming home.

"The marriage of liminality and unambiguous purpose is why I love airports. You are held between spaces, with nothing to do but exist until you’re required to move."
