  1. Why are the feelings of young people stronger than those of others?

Desire and emotion erupt together. In the stage of youth, emotion meets desire, and the feeling intensifies, whether in love, anger, or attachment.

  2. Hidden Gems

Daily writing prompt What’s the most underrated movie you’ve ever watched? View all responses

Another movie prompt? Ok, WordPress, since you are recycling your daily writing prompts, I will recycle my response from last time.

It’s difficult to choose just one. My husband and I watch so many movies that we enjoy discovering a hidden gem…a lesser-known movie that surprises us in some way. I like to think that I am pretty good at figuring out plot twists, so whenever a movie blows my mind, I am a fan! Some of the movies on this list are just good fun…the kind that you can watch over and over again and always laugh at the same corny jokes. Finally, a couple of them just have special emotional ties to me. Here is my top ten underrated movies are in no particular order:

    1. Dead Calm (1989) starring Nicole Kidman, Sam Neill, and Billy Zane. Here’s a thriller from Nicole Kidman’s early days. She and her husband decide to spend some quiet time at sea. They discover a sinking ship with a man on board. I won’t give away the rest of the plot, but you are in for a wild ride.
    2. Identity (2003) starring John Cusack and Ray Liotta. I am a huge John Cusack fan, growing up in the 80’s. This film follows ten strangers stranded in an isolated motel. They are killed off one by one. Can you guess who the killer is?
    3. The Sixth Sense (1999) starring Bruce Willis and Haley Joel Osment. This is not a hidden gem. I just really enjoyed the ending, that I did not see coming at all! If you are one of the few people who haven’t seen it yet, I won’t spoil it for you.
    4. Hush (2016) starring Kate Siegel. A deaf and mute writer goes away to a cabin in the woods to write in peace, when a masked killer appears at her window. Something about her inability to hear her attacker or call for help heightens the danger of her situation.
    5. The Foreigner (2017) starring Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan. I love any Jackie Chan movie…that guy is so talented! In this one, he plays a humble businessman who sets out to avenge his daughter’s death.

Okay, by now you might assume that I love horror movies. I can assure you that is not my favorite genre! Those titles just popped into my mind when thinking about surprising endings. Here are some calmer titles:

    6. School of Rock (2003) starring Jack Black. This is a special movie for me because I was a teacher for 17 years. I think this movie says what a lot of teachers really think, but can’t articulate. Besides, Jack Black is hilarious!!! After being kicked out of his rock band, he poses as a substitute teacher to earn some extra cash. Then, he turns his students into his new band.

    7. P.S. I Love You (2007) starring Gerard Butler and Hilary Swank. I LOVE everything about this movie! It is a romantic comedy set in Ireland and New York. The Irish landscapes are gorgeous! Be forewarned…you will need a box of tissues on hand.

    8. Mystery Men (1999) starring Ben Stiller, Paul Ruebens, William H. Macy, and too many other stars to name! This is just a hilarious movie about unlikely super heroes…Mr. Furious, The Shoveler, The Spleen, Invisible Boy…just to name a few. They end up saving the day, mostly by accident.

    9. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013) starring Ben Stiller, Kristen Wiig and Sean Penn. This movie is so inspirational! Every time I watch it, it makes me want to follow my dreams and travel the world. Walter Mitty (Ben Stiller) is a mild-mannered employee of Life Magazine. His life is so monotonous, that he likes to daydream. Finally, his daydreams come true.

    10. Three Amigos (1986) starring Steve Martin, Chevy Chase and Martin Short. My husband and I watched this movie when it first came out in the 80’s. The actors are the best of Saturday Night Live, in my opinion. I’ll warn you, the plot is pretty ridiculous and it’s full of corny jokes and puns, but these three actors bring it to life! We continue to watch it over and over again, because it still makes us laugh out loud! If you want some good laughs on a random Saturday afternoon, I highly recommend that you give it a try.

Ok, there you go! As I’m ending this post, I have a million more titles popping into my head! Ahhh! I’m going to hit the PUBLISH button before I change my mind.

  3. Digital addiction

Constant motivation; because electronic games and social media provide constant motivation for young men and women, through rewards, likes, and comments, which encourages them to use them repeatedly.
