A rare insight into COPE's Facilitation & Integrity Subcommittee: they helped guide a journal into engaging with an Austrian investigation, leading to a retraction.
It's usually unsung work, much of it done by volunteers from COPE council.

19th century physicians heroically self-dosing. But I'm baffled by mention of homeopathy, the hoax in which you should expect ZERO molecules of the announced compound to appear in the dose. Like vermouth in an extremely dry martini, except not so overwhelmingly vermouth-saturated. Not even vaguely tainted. "Wave the gin-filled martini glass in the direction of France" as Winston Churchill or some wit put it.

This is the original middle finger of the right hand of #GalileoGalilei as it can be seen in the #MuseoGalileo, Istituto e Museo di Storia della Scienza in #Florence:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galileo%27s_middle_fingerMy personal highlight of this trip to Italy so far.
Yes, the #middlefinger gesture is old enough. Even old greeks and romans used it:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_fingerMaybe this (and the #catholicchurch forcing him to publicly revoke his findings) is why somebody decided to steal this part of his body when he was moved years after his death.
From now on, this picture will be awarded by me to anybody who is talking bullshit that was scientifically proven wrong already.

Maybe related;
I've found multiple groupings around #Homeopathy.#EvidenceBasedMedicine says (perhaps) "We need large RandomControlledTrails to determine it's efficacy".
#ScienceBasedMedicine want to reject it's use as it's claimed mechanism is entirely fanciful.
#Skeptics follow #SBM .
#Clinicians (some) see (some) good outcomes and don't care if they're #PlaceboEffect #Placebo or not.
#PleasedUsers get results they want.
#DisappointedUsers try but aren't satisfied.
