  1. RE: fosstodon.org/@abcdw/116097550

RDE Meetup in less than 5 hours. RDE, Guix, Guile and all the stuff you like.

    Link to the call: trop.in/rde/meetup

  2. @abcdw nice! How do you like it so far?

I installed it also couple of weeks ago and so far it's been great! Couple issues remaining, finding good replacement for #googlecalendar and best way to install software. Also will have to look into using multiple profiles.

  3. Guile Hoot IDE. My grant proposal for , I didn't have much time to prepare it carefully this year, but I guess the primary ideas should be clear.

    @cwebber, @dthompson, @wingo how it looks? :)

  4. @abcdw I was realizing (again) today, scheme-mode on Emacs doesn't highlight docstrings properly. Docstrings in define, define*, lambda, and others, they use `font-lock-string-face` instead of `font-lock-comment-face`. Do you in your infinite Lisp wisdom (or some other #guix #hacker) have an idea how one could fix that? I have looked at Scheme-mode built-in to Emacs but I can't figure out the puzzle.

    #emacs #scheme #guile #docstring #lisp #mode

  5. @abcdw what are you using for the inline scheme eval in the buffer In youtube.com/watch?v=kIppahbBkn ?

#geiser can insert eval results into the buffer, but your setup resembles the ciders overlay way?

    #emacs

  6. @abcdw I often find myself in similar situations with
Had an issues automounting a directory with yesterday, that I just couldn't figure out, but I still wouldn't trade the power you get with a declarative OS like or for some eye candy or less configuration efforts

  7. @debacle @abcdw @daviwil Your freedom to install and use software isn't limited by decisions done by some Linux distribution. You're always free to install e.g. zig, rust or Ghostty by means not designed by your distro.

    Get zig here: ziglang.org/download/

    Get Ghostty here: ghostty.org/docs/install/binar

So, too good, #ghostty can be in your #Debian installation within 5 minutes!

BTW; I'm a happy Debian Sid user

  8. @circfruit @abcdw I use my pinkies for Super key( mod key ) and also for mouse keys and trackpad states. My home rows are Shift, Ctrl, Alt and Super on pinky

  9. Hey Guilers !

Motivated by @abcdw work on rde tests and gider, I spend time on Gunit64 : tools to fire up SRFI64 tests with Emacs key bindings thanks to Geiser.

First steps done ! Next one will be to ease installation using Guix.

Right now it is still manual : dedicated minor-mode, .dir-locals.el, Guile module…

Concret use case in the `tests` directory.

Check it out and tell me !
    framagit.org/jeko/guile-gunit6

Don't hesitate to ping me for help or ideas!

  10. @wongandj oh wow, that would be cool and ambitious!

Building on Guix's services and packages concepts. There's a few interesting configuration ideas kicking around on guix-devel and the work @abcdw has done on #rde

  11. so, apparently hacking #scheme is going to get even more fun with B.L.U.E., a sane, extendable, lisp-y l, agnostic build system and #Ares, the interactive hacking tool we always sensed was missing from our work. Yes, we now have insightful backtraces in #guile!

  15. Finished Ironman70.3 race in 6.5 hours.

Kinda fun, but not sure if it's fun enough to compensate an awful heat and humidity, huge jelly fishes, dangerous road accidents and tons of endless suffering. Have to admit, there is a benefit of training for the race: people compliment my ass more often and/or ask if I lost weight. (Actually, I got 2 more kilos).

Not sure what to do next. Check out Japan? Come back to life in the forest, rock climbing and trail running? To try a van life + cycling? 🤔

  16. I wanted to brag how hard it was to run Ironman in incredible heat of Vietnam, share some pics and all that, but ended up listening songs about emigration, war, and all of a sudden lose of home, hopes and meanings.

I grew up on the songs of this RAP group, I'm very glad that they left the country, I'm glad that they don't grovel and discuss the matters clearly. I'm very sad that they have to sing about it. Fuck the war.

  17. powered machine is ready for the race.

  18. RE: mastodon.social/@ctietze/11650

Nowadays, I almost never use a separate terminal as I cover all my use cases with vterm/eshell inside . While vterm is good, it has some quite rough edges here and there.

Recently, I was playing with and it was super performant, standard complaint and just felt really nice. I guess ghostel can become my goto choice, when we properly package ghostty for .

I'm really glad to find this project, thanks to @daviwil for boosting the post 👇
