  1. @thatayush though going through #earthlyci docs, it seems I could do something like nix build inside it with using nixos image. Though at that stage, I'll have 3 layers of cache. Earthly, podman, and nix itself... 🤣

  6. @itamarst Thank you! 😄 Right now I'm experimenting with it for some nanoservice I been setting up.

I do have one question. is what I use for concurrency. I haven't yet tested if works with it, but maybe? It is asyncio compatible. So my question is, how does Eliot treat async calls? Or am I thinking this wrong I should only log sync to play safe?

  7. now does compaction. Using s3 condition writes. 😎

is good, but complex when not in infra. Especially for . Too many moving parts. 😅

Very happy litestream is getting some love. Makes even more of a no brainer choice. 😏

  8. @funnylookinhat @system76 BOX silent pink switches are really light. 🪶 At the time I bought my box cream, the pink were all but non existent. That and novelkeys box cream are kind of amazing on their own. Personally helped over strains on my finger joints. 👌

Still. Really like the choice here on the silent pink. For people who suffer with carpal tunnel or just joint fatigue, these can be really amazing to use.

  9. Instead of focusing on being a , decided they wanted to be a chat bot. 😅 I love my AI helpers like . But I also think making it an assistant is key. Not the sole contributor. 😑

Time will tell with this move. But on the plus side, maybe people give more a look at , , and other options. 😎

  10. Been thinking more of owning my again.

Nothing wrong with offboarding. Just, you don't have a guarantee of how long your host exists.😅 And no, using is not the answer.😑

Make mirrors everywhere sure. But your main host should be something you control. Something corps can't build their ML products from.

  11. Just found out about with called .

Going to have to check it out. Though downside is they only have support for and . ⚰️ Neither which I use for my personal . However! They plan to support ! 🤯 That alone makes the software worth a glance or three for me. 😭

  12. Found out came out with their own config language, . Already tried , , and in the past. I feel I don't need more alternatives to yaml. 😅

I've gone so deep into these, I've stepped out the other side. 🫠

I instead accepted as the one true config language. ✌️ By "just" using a database, you move past the config language trope. Focusing again on the thing you trying to do. Make software work for you. 😅

  13. Forget 3D audio. I want spatial audio codecs like from .

It's such low key tech, but will have immense quality of life improvement. 😎 Mainly calls where more than 1 person speaks. 😅.

There's so many instances and types of implementation to choose from. All interconnected with one another. 🕸️

My most favorite right now has to be the work for . Making code forges part of the fediverse.

  17. I've gotten in this habit of building all software to be #deterministic. And I mean ALL software. 😅

Functional languages make this easier. But they still don't capture state of systems you rely on. Like time or random number generators. 🫠 The things that truly break apart. 🙃

Abstracting non deterministic properties to calls you inject can make a world of difference. It helps then being able to evaluate why you get an error for api outside of your control. And yes time is an api. 😏

  22. I been looking at #taskfile and this is complex. 🤔 The command runner has so many abilities. And verbose too. 🫠

I don't think I'll use for myself, but I can see utility for shared tasks.

For me #justfile is enough. Not too complex. Has a #makefile syntax. And NOT #yaml. 😅
