  1. Well display is looking a lot better after a small change and a mod wire, but it needs a lot more testing before I’m happy it’s fixed.

  2. Working on the keyboard code for the #LT6502b today.
Some keys are missing as once this is done I have another chip to solder in and I don’t want to melt switches/caps

  3. Graphics commands are now back!
(The dots are single colour pixels, not dust)
Currently these are 8bit, I will probably add 16bit versions of the commands later.
But next I want to solder in the keyboard parts and get that working.

  4. Ok wow, that was a LOT of work, but scrolling is now working on my #LT6502b screen.
This is 1024x600 so gives me 128 columns but 37 rows (with a bit left over).
I may use the little bit for something like a status bar of some kind. I’m not sure yet.
Anyway, next is adding back in circle, line, plot, etc.

  5. Finally got text on the new display for #LT6502b
Wow it’s complex to get going.
No scrolling working yet and a few other issues to work through.

  6. Ah ha!!! I ordered the display with a font chip, which has an 8x16 font on.
After much work that now works fine, giving me 37 lines per screen by 128 characters.
It does have a Yen/Yuan symbol instead of a dollar, but there is a variable width font with the dollar, so I can in theory swap the Yen/Yuan for a dollar on the fly later in assembly.
The viewing angle and contrast on this panel is also fa better than the previous one, image is a bit washed out still.

  7. I got text running, but the font is 12x24, and there is no 8x16 sadly :(
So only 25 lines on this screen, but 85 characters wide.
Would be nice to get an 8x16 font on here :(

  8. #LT6502b screen is now alive, just a solid block fill for now, but it’s working. 16bit colour and 1024x600.
Text will be the next thing to get working.
I will say, wow it’s a complex screen to setup.

  9. Codeberg, any good?
I'm thinking of moving my #LT6502 & #LT6502b projects there as I'm tired of AI rubbish.
    Anyone else use them? thoughts?

  10. Well, I can read the registers of the RA8889 10" (1024x600) display on my #LT6502b project :)

So I'll be trying to get it to start in the next few days/week.

  11. Current state of #LT6502b. Main problem for tomorrow is the missing RAM.

  12. Getting there slowly with #LT6502b it's now running BASIC and booting.
There are a couple of issues, most notably the lack of the 2nd RAM chip, most odd.

  13. Second version of #LT6502 underway, so fa so good. Powers up, all voltages are correct.
So onto soldering in cpu and bring up.

  14. YAY, #neorv32 built with a VERY simple memory interface which I've connected to LEDs on my #Alchitry #FPGA board
I can now send data via memory to my own custom blocks (I think).

Next step is to figure out the memory mapping proper.

  15. Strawberry tree (madrone) fruit in the early stage of ripening.

Besides many other uses, it is also fire resistant, a nice to have in our part of California.

  16. On a long ago day, snow lingered on the coppery arbutus trees and the sky reinvented the colour blue.

  17. Bark of an arbutus tree also known as madrone. An amazing tree that grows in some areas of Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

  18. Some of my favorite trees in the Seattle area (or throughout the PNW for all that matter) are the Pacific madrones (Arbutus menziesii). They're also known as madrona, arbutus and other names, typical of what we humans do with "biological classifications". I think they're some of the most striking trees in the forest understory, with their red/yellow/orange bark popping in among the darker hued redcedar and fir. These are actually in the Washington Park Arboretum in Seattle, but the shot captures the trees' lithe twisting forms just as well as along the coastline. 19. Earlier this week, I went on a photo excursion to my secret spot with lots of arbutus (madrone) trees. The weather was a bit dramatic: strong winds, showers and thunder. Imagine walking outside with a tripod when there is thunder... Anyway, I came back home with lots of images and this is one of them.

  20. #ThickTrunkTuesday

The arbutus, also known as madrone, is an interesting tree that I love to photograph. The bark peels off over time in a dramatic way, revealing a finer layer in the brown and redish tones, and a core that goes from yellow to red. Sometimes part of the outer bark turns black. The tree appears dead but it is not.

For this shot, I was interested in the texture of the bark.

When I see an arbutus tree, or madrone, in our coastal forests, I immediately jump into creative mode. I am attracted by its shape, texture and colour. I always try to find a composition that reflects the intricacy of this species of tree. This tree can be found from southwestern British Columbia to Baja California.
