  5. #abolitionists, decarceralists, you know anyone writing about the Ukrainian/Russian conflict and the release of criminals from prison if they join the respective war effort, looking through an abolitionist lens?

I've read texts on US prisons arguing that even the most serious criminals are needed on the barricades - with this being policy in the biggest global conflict, i'd expect someone to have analysed.

    Boosts appreciated.

  13. So far, the birthing pangs of whatever this is have been messy in terms of their effect on people. #oliphant #hachyderm #tusky and I am sure many others have found that #moderation and #governance are sticky, thorny functions where people are often made very unhappy, by decisions or by experiences or by the cost of these on relationships and communities.

    I urge #mercy, #compassion and #grace 1st, maybe #forgiveness where possible. But #transparency, #rules & #roles, too

  14. Went to Rotterdam #zomercarnaval and despite ridiculous attempts to suck the soul out of it (no bubbling or sexualised dancing allowed, one alchohol bottle pp at supermarkets, logistical confounding on all sides) it felt important to be there, important to buy the brai chicken with cash, important festoonery abounding and in expression. Immaterial, ephemeral, urgent and insistent resistance, by means of soca, dancehall and kaseko. Big up. Maybe I'll upload some photos if there's interest.

  25. This Alaskan is truly grateful for President Carter's love and protection of the Great Land! #Alaska #ThankYouJimmy #ANILCA #ANWR
"Jimmy Carter, who died Sunday at age 100, was the only U.S. president to hang a map of Alaska on the wall of the Oval Office. Judging by what he wrote about his later trips north — often just to fish, hike and birdwatch in the wilderness — it can probably be said that he was not only the president with the biggest impact on Alaska but also the one with the deepest love for the state.

The law that Carter called his greatest domestic achievement, and the source of so much controversy here, was the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act, or ANILCA, which Carter signed into law on Dec. 2, 1980, as one of the last acts of his presidency."
