Volunteering for Hachyderm is a breath of fresh air to me.

On the technical side, creating and adding Ansible roles for PostgreSQL (including PgBouncer and pgBackRest) is fun. I'm learning a lot, even with more than 10 years of experience.

On the human side, I'm honoured to be part of such an amazing worldwide team sharing the same values.

@lobre @arosano Hi there, I answer from my other account. I sidelined my #hachyderm presence.
I use #cwm on an #openbsd with a 24” monitor. My workflow is that I start 3 consoles and #cwm tiles them for me. The big one on the left is for editing code. The top right is for builds and tests, the bottom right for various related tasks. I could probably do the same with #tmux or #screen. This works for me.
I will normally have a browser running behind the consoles, to take up when I need a search or something. I mad a right click menu with a few apps that I use a lot.

So far, the birthing pangs of whatever this is have been messy in terms of their effect on people. #oliphant #hachyderm #tusky and I am sure many others have found that #moderation and #governance are sticky, thorny functions where people are often made very unhappy, by decisions or by experiences or by the cost of these on relationships and communities.

I urge #mercy, #compassion and #grace 1st, maybe #forgiveness where possible. But #transparency, #rules & #roles, too

Then there are questions of responsibility and accountability. Who at @nivenly was responsible for the decision to partner with #Haidra? Was any thought given to how the community would react to the decision? Did anyone address the myriad ethical concerns around generative AI, and what associating with that field might do to the reputation of #Hachyderm and the foundation?

I look forward to answers and more clarity around the subject.

Good to see a mention of our fearless captain of OCS (our Cyber ship) #hachyderm @nova in the latest @linuxmagazine talking about #Fosdem2023. If I can, I'll make an effort to go one year and be completely out of my depth 🤣.

First migration, pretty easy and it works well.

Only issue I’ve had is that lists can’t be imported/transferred …?

If so, it kinda tracks with lists not seeming like a mature feature yet. Which is a shame because it feels like it’d be a simple script to consume the exported lists CSV and apply it to a new account.

Similarly, followed hashtags are gone too …?

I never made my formal introduction, I should change that! I currently work in enterprise doing full-stack dev for #AEM in the financial sector. Mostly in #JavaScript, #Java, #HTML, and #CSS. Been a web developer for almost 15+ years. Finished my BSCS this past year, set to start Georgia Tech this year in the #OMSCS program.

Goals for 2023:
- Start transitioning away from web to #Swift / #Apple dev work
- Keep learning more Java related topics
- get through GT
