  1. @hachyderm I am getting an "unexpected error" when opening the website on mobile since the #hachyderm update to v4.6.x. (Safari, iOS 26.5)

I wonder if it has to do with the fact that I used to have the Tangerine UI configured and it's no longer here.

  3. #Hachyderm friends, since upgrading to Mastodon v4.6.0 this weekend the instance feels faster when loading 🥳 is it just me?

  4. Heyyyy. Who moved my cheese??

Nice to see that I can finally add alt-text to my avatar and profile banner pic.

Thanks for your hard work #Hachyderm admins! Much appreciated.

Is there a known issue with uploading images?
The past two days, I've been getting the following errors attempting to add an image to my post:

    502 Bad Gateway
    413 Request Entity Too Large

This happens for new images and for attempting to add an image that had been previous accepted. The image sizes are mostly <2.5MiB Thanks!

  12. Wow. I just saw @PCMag quoted a post from "[person name] on #Mastodon" in one of their online articles. Properly quoted, with an image and a link to the post on #Hachyderm. I don't know if this has happened before, but I'm surprised that it is finally happening. Great!

  14. Hello, #hachyderm --

We're slowly rolling out Anubis (anubis.techaro.lol/) as a mechanism to reduce the impact of AI/LLM scrapers. Our goal is to have this fully rolled out by the end of the week, barring any unforeseen issues.

As a point of reference: So far, we've rolled it out to our Japan region and about 95% of requests to that region are getting blocked. :blobfoxsignforbidden:

As we roll out, if you think you've been impacted by a change we've applied, please reach out to us at github.com/hachyderm/community.

Thanks to @cadey for making such a neat tool! :blobfoxheartcute:

    Cheers,

  16. Caught a typo in a design I compiled for AODInitiative. I spotted the rogue double 's' in "issuess" glaring back at me from my screen. It was too late. The graphic is already out there circulating on the live feed.

Anyway, Happy World Day of Social Justice ✊😭

  18. Hey, #hachyderm --

We totally forgot to publish the availability of the `hachyderm.general` #ansible collection we announced at #fosdem a few weeks ago!

We started by publishing our #postgresql roles that we use to keep the Hachyderm database servers happy and healthy. Included are modules to:

    - build postgresql servers in both primary and replica configurations
    - configure pgbackrest for full and incremental backups
    - publish metrics for consumption by prometheus

Modules are available on Ansible Galaxy at galaxy.ansible.com/ui/repo/pub.

Happy Hachyderming (and Ansible-ing and postgresql-ing)!

  20. Hello, #hachyderm!

This morning we took our first South America CDN node live. Folks in South America will now get routed and cached via that node.

As part of our ongoing resilience plan, we'll look to expand this further throughout 2026 to provide a better experience for folks around the world. :blobfoxheartcute:

  26. Hey all, if you're reading this, you have not been moved to my new account: @[email protected] — please follow this account manually.

I attempted a proper move a week or two ago, but this wasn't 100% successful, so please manually follow @[email protected] instead.

The new account is on my own #GotoSocial self-hosted instance which I prefer. #Hachyderm has been great, so nothing against it. I'd julst like to dabble more with #selfhosting now.

I'll attempt another proper migration in 21 days after the cool down period.

  28. The most affected are people on #Hachyderm , which (I realized too late) blocks #Disroot.

I'm sorry, I really tried...first by trying to get hachyderm.io to unblock fe.disroot.org, and then by trying to get fe.disroot.org to block whatever servers hachyderm.io wants them to block...I didn't succeed 🙁

I could move to some other server, but I don't feel like moving until it's to a server I host myself...so I guess this can't be resolved in the near future...sorry 🙁

  32. Did anyone manage to follow a #lemmy group from #hachyderm in the last year or so? Since the signed fetch was turned on (at least I think that's the moment) I can't follow any new groups - the few I've followed before work, but any new request gets stuck as Requested.

Tried some debugging from Lemmy side but didn't get far. slrpnk.net/post/15995765

  34. The other day I was thinking about some of the people who I used to follow in the old blue bird site. A few of them did open accounts here on Mastodon, mostly because it was "trendy" at that time, but most (of those few) eventually left their accounts to rot. A lot of people from the old site just eventually ended up in Bluesky, but they are not even bridging here (I even asked, they ignored me).

Whatever their reasoning was, they lost followers one way or another, for sure. And now I have met new people, I have been following them, and some of those are following me back, which was unthinkable in the old site.

Time flies when we're having fun, and the past just becomes a blur.

  36. This is not a problem unique to Atlassian's status pages -- some other status services are also #IPv4-only without #IPv6. For example status.hachyderm.io seems to CNAME to stats.uptimerobot.com so while #hachyderm is wonderfully IPv6-enabled, the status page is not.

  40. “We also do our best to keep track of various campaigns and differentiate ‘real or scam’, to the degree that we are able. For campaigns that are identified as scams, we do our best to research and prevent that traffic from coming to Hachyderm …

We also recognize that there are legitimate campaigns. One relatively new effort is the Gaza Verified project. I (Quintessence) spoke to Aral to ask questions and generally understand the process, and am comfortable confirming that 1 ) Aral is a real person who is doing the work he states and 2 ) that the people that are being listed on Gaza Verified are confirmed with in-person verification with the network that he and Joy are building. To be overclear: the work is being done, and being done the way it is being communicated.

In-person verification is slow work, as it requires each new contact to be verified by an existing contact. They also take the time to attempt to onboard people who mostly are unfamiliar with the technology we take for granted, and therefore both do not have prior exposure to cultural norms and also due to suffering, do not have a lot of mental bandwidth to ‘just learn it’.”

A big thank-you to @quintessence not only for this lovely article (that goes into mental health tools to protect yourself online and which you should read in its entirety if you can) but for standing by our friends families in Gaza and for making Hachyderm.io a safe server on the fediverse (gaza-verified.org/guide/#serve) for people being forced to endure genocide and famine in Gaza.

Many thanks to the excellent people who manage Hachyderm.

Is there a specific reason why Hachyderm has not been upgraded to the current Mastodon version, 4.4.5, which was released on September 23, 2025?

  54. @e_nomem

That's kind of problematic, I would think. Perhaps it's a bug.

    1. hachyderm.io moderators have not announced any policy change to my knowledge.
    2. They don't publish any public info on moderated servers on hachyderm.io/about

It's a relatively minor irritation to me; but, something is broken here.
