#Hawaii's area code (telephone dialing code) is 808, so every August 8th was "808 Day." There were even companies that sold 808 logo gear. Sad that even this simple reason to celebrate local identity was also destroyed in the #Lahaina wildfire. And not so long ago the phone company declared that everyone has to dial the 808, even when calling locally. Every day, another sad reminder. #LahainaStrong

For years I've watched #HawaiiNewsNow broadcasts online, one hour after they air. Watching one hour late allows me to view without all the ads. But for several days HNN's video page has been kinda screwy. Hope this is temporary (related to Crowdstrike maybe?) and their page will have the normal offerings again soon. #Hawaii

Sad to see #HawaiiNewsNow run a lengthy segment on a class of corrections officers that just completed their eight weeks of training. Racial profiling exists in #Hawaii too for sure, and though Native Hawaiians are a minority in Hawai'i they are the most frequently targeted by the police. To highlight corrections officers, especially *on Kamehameha Day* feels offensive, and I'm not Native Hawaiian. Hawaii News Now can do better.
