  1. I reordered my bookshelf and when relocating „The Princess Diarist“ by Carrie Fisher I just remembered that she wrote about that she and Harrison Ford had a three month affair during the filming of Star Wars now Ep. 4 and I sincerely believe that the chemistry they both have on screen in episode 7 is because of that.

Anyways go read Carrie Fishers books.

  5. I just upgraded my bookshelf speakers to a pair of Bowers and Wilkins 805s. This sounds wonderful. As a teenager I heard reggae albums, Bob Marley was very popular, the Live album had just come out. This was the first dub album I got, at Nottingham Hill Record and Tape Exchange in 1978. I liked the cover, and loved the music. The Agrovators, ‘Jammies in Lion Dub Style’. #dub #reggae #BowersAndWilkins #NowPlaying

  6. Packing up my bookshelf for another move and as I get to the Vs, feeling very sad there will never be another #VernorVinge novel to look forward to. 😢 Some of these books have traveled with me through multiple changes of continent over the years.

  7. Just realized that my overuse of Nix modules is lighting up the same part of my brain that resulted in AspectJ In Action landing on my bookshelf.

  8. Because of my personal worldview, I have a special space in my bookshelf with books like 1984, Animal Farm and Brave New World. I was told to add Farenheit 451 and Clockwork Orange. Are those books similar to what I have? What other books should I add too?

Since I started my #MSISE with SANS, I have taken some GREAT classes and learned so much, but THIS class is one of the top two I’ve been looking forward to the most (the other being FOR610/GREM planned for this summer)!

I am so excited to get started on #FOR508 - Advanced #IncidentResponse, #ThreatHunting, and #DigitalForensics- and prepare for my #GCFA this Spring!

Since Thanksgiving, I’ve also been working my way through a backlog of technical books I have, occasionally reference, but never dove into completely. I’m remedying that this year and made a promise to myself to sit down and read/work through my bookshelf. I can say that I’m already seeing the benefits of that effort, unlocking a few “a ha!” moments and further helping me refine my future professional plans.

When I took my first security class years ago, I immediately fell in love with the field. I knew I needed to do this with my career. I have found that feeling again in the last quarter as I spend more time studying #memoryanalysis and #reverseengineering. I took a really nontraditional path into these disciplines, and I have a lot of gaps in knowledge I’m constantly filling in, but I *love* learning this stuff.

Over 2/3 of the way through my masters…. The academic end is in sight, but the learning opportunities are infinite :)

  14. I released a new version of my Bookshelf plugin for Obsidian yesterday.

If you're into reading, managing your books (or book notes), tracking your reading progress, and checking stats, why not give it a try?

  15. @tg9541 I have the Kahneman on my bookshelf. 😀 Ah so you have seen "Institute for Propaganda Analysis" from which the 7 signs of propaganda came from. (Interesting homework, apply the list to commercials/ads you see!) the How much of Plato have you read? Machiavelli (read his far more interesting Discourses)? I found echos of this theme in Plato's Republic where he talks about various types of people etc. There is a thread of elitism all through history. You might enjoy Jacques Ellul *Propaganda* and *Technological Society Ellul was well known.
Anything by Jason Stanley. Bernays considered the *father* of propaganda/PR. Which brings us to Ewen *A Social History of Spin* "First throughout the interview, Bernays expressed an unabashedly hierarchical view of society. Repeatedly he maintained that although most people respond to their world instinctively, without thought, there exist an "intelligent few" who have been charged with the responsibility of contemplating and influencing the tide of history." ibid
This seems to echo Lippmann's view as well which Dewey was opposed to. Oddly Chomsky thought Dewey was as a bad as Lippmann. "Among those who participated actively and enthusiastically in Wilson's war
were the progressive intellectuals, people of the John Dewey circle,..." - Media Control Chomsky

    This should do for now...
