  4. I for one am very happy I get to spend my #DayOfDH2024 in Leipzig, where the "Forum für Digital Humanities Leipzig" @ubleipzig & @saw_leipzig (this latter one unfortunately appears to be only a bird makeup account) is celebrating with their "#DigitalHumanities Day Leipzig 2024", 🌐 fdhl.info/dhdl2024/.

    I look forward to & will toot about the poster session, to see new projects and connect w/ @klassikstiftung's #Goethe goethe-biographica.de/ & @BBAW's A.v. #Humboldt #DigitalScholarlyEdition

Sehr schön, hier dann doch so viel mitzubekommen.

  8. #ESTS2024 programme is out (for some days now), elte-dh.hu/ests-2024-program/. Just arrived in Budapest and look forward to a great conference!

  9. @christof good and important point, and thanks for the glimpse into the numbers! I think it would help your case and #OpenAccess arguments in general, if these access statistics were included prominently in the #IJDH journal site.

Springer's own page e.g. at link.springer.com/article/10.1 does not show much, only the page views of the abstract and its re-use in social media posts, if I understand correctly, but not the # of downloads.

  14. @robertcasties please think about introducing the same special track or "mini-conference" (inside the conference!) to the @DHd confs from #DHd2025 on. At least a panel or a discussion-focussed workshop like the one on LLM/KI last year should be easy enough to get through the review process.

And best wishes to you and all at #DH2024, sorry to miss the fun on-site, for reasons of current work load, scarcity of travel budget and more so, environmental considerations.

  15. #dhbenelux2024 question for the #LinkedOpenData session: Do we consider CC-BY-*NC*(-SA) still to be open (enough), is this Linked *Open* Data?

I.e. why are we using the "Non-Commercial" restriction, is the assumed benefit greater than the downside (for creative re-use, for Wikimedia projects etc.)? I think not, esp. since most of the examples were rather on the metadata level. But even for more "full-fleshed" #researchData I think the default should be CC-BY.

    Frühwirt/Mayer/Stoxreiter: "Review of 'Theodor #Fontane’s #notebooks A ‘Digital Genetic-Critical and Commented Edition’'." RIDE 16 (2023). doi: 10.18716/ride.a.16.4.(ride.i-d-e.de/issues/issue-16/)

  17. @correspSearch @teimec2023 Thanks for that!

I had one question I did not ask at the presentation: slide 2 says, #correspSearch contains "metadata of letters in printed and digital editions *as well as other scholarly publications*" – what other scholarly publications are covered, i.e. aggregated in cS, or do you simply mean "metadata of letters" derived from scholarly publications other than editions of letters? Thanks again!

    CC @stefandumont

  18. Via #dhTech mailing list:

    > Check out the blog post “Embracing Endings: Principles for Digital Longevity and Their Importance for Research Software Engineers <dh-tech.github.io/blog/2023-08>” by Moritz Mähr about the University of Victoria's "Endings Project" and an application of endings principles to the Stadt.Geschichte.Basel project.

  19. Hi, bin #Neuhier, jedenfalls: I moved to a different server (@DHd, thanks @lavaeolus for the help) and so it's time for a re-#Introduction.

    I am staff member @BBAW and @klassikstiftung working on #DigitalScholarlyEditions of A.v. #Humobldt's and #Goethe's legacy collections, cf. #ehd edition-humboldt.de/ and goethe-biographica.de/. Generally interested in #DigitalHumanities, @TEIConsortium #TEI-XML and #ResearchData #RDM #FDM.

Bio, pubs & contact: bbaw.de/die-akademie/mitarbeit. Nice to meet you!

Talking about #OpenAccess, publishing #ClosedAccess?

  21. I will illustrate current challenges within this ongoing process with examples from two German long-term, #hybridEdition / #DigitalScholarlyEdition projects: 1) A. v. Humboldt’s Travel Journals and related letters and documents, cf. “Travelling Humboldt – Science on the Move” and its #edition #humboldt #digital (@BBAW), edition-humboldt.de/?&l=en, and 2) “PROPYLÄEN: #Goethe’s #Biographica goethe-biographica.de/ (@klassikstiftung). #ESTS2024
