#dhbenelux2024 is over -- and my poor shoes have not survived! I was wearing the same pair all week and admittedly did a lot of walking, but I didn't expect that they would decay like this. Unfortunately, it's the only pair I brought to Leuven, so I have to buy new ones before travelling home today.

#dhbenelux2024 Humanities scholars know about materiality of data, computational scholars need to be made aware of specific challenges.

Postcards are the new visiting cards! I have already collected quite a few from colleagues at #dhbenelux2024. The most recent one I received is from @ThWuebbena and shows the research poster on "curating and opening legacy silos" which he is going to present with @fbncrmr in the official poster session. I am not going to share spoilers here... so make sure to attend!
#dhbenelux2024 question for the #LinkedOpenData session: Do we consider CC-BY-*NC*(-SA) still to be open (enough), is this Linked *Open* Data?
I.e. why are we using the "Non-Commercial" restriction, is the assumed benefit greater than the downside (for creative re-use, for Wikimedia projects etc.)? I think not, esp. since most of the examples were rather on the metadata level. But even for more "full-fleshed" #researchData I think the default should be CC-BY.

#Leuven has a lot to offer -- last but not least many amazing libraries and (second-hand) #book stores. 📚 I found this cute map of some of the most popular places to read and buy #books in my hotel and felt I should share it with the participants of #dhbenelux2024. My personal recommendation is De Slegte (no. 6 on the map), from whom I have ordered out-of-print academic books in the past. #dhbenelux24

That's sth I never managed, head and hands too slow. But there are people who do this admirably and I am sure some of them will be at #dhbenelux2024
