I'm preparing a lecture for our #DigitalScholarlyEdition Summer School next week using the 3x3 format (in its shortest version).
I'm feeling so overwhelmed and rusty doing this! I haven't given a proper lecture in years, especially not an interactive one.
Kudos to all of you who teach on a regular basis - this is HARD!

In 2024 and 2025, we conducted 17 interviews with researchers, project leads, developers and philologists about #DigitalScholarlyEdition projects here in Oslo.
Our research assistant, Johanne Emilie Christensen, has written a blog post about her experience with transcribing and preparing the interviews, as well as our use of (and struggle with) voice-to-text tools.

We are now collaborating with colleagues from the Cultural History Museum & the University Library's Special Collections on digitising & transcribing all Mamen documents in the collection.
The narrative diaries and manuscripts will be published as a #DigitalScholarlyEdition in reader-friendly formats, such as HTML, PDF, & EPUB, on Bokselskap.no. The XML TEI P5 files (the foundation of the edition) will be made freely available for download and reuse on our data repository, Dataverse.no.

Mamen travelled to #Mongolia 🇲🇳 in 1911 and witnessed the revolution of 1911, the rise and fall of the Bogdh Khanate, the revolution of 1921, the establishment of the Mongolian People's Republic in 1924, and the so-called Nankou Campaign in 1937, during which the Japanese occupied China's north-eastern region.

Continuation of the IDE training events on digital scholarly editing (https://www.i-d-e.de/aktivitaeten/schools/): introduction into state of the art techniques of digital scholarly editing practices.
It was initiated by the research project “Sorores” (https://sorores.hypotheses.org/) and is carried out in co-operation of Universität des Saarlands (chair for Medieval History, Cristina Andenna) and the Institute for Documentology and Editorial (https://i-d-e.de @ideinfo) Participation is free of charge.
The master class will provide you with theoretical and practical knowledge on digital scholarly editing und gives you the opportunity to discuss your own (digital) scholarly edition with peers and known experts. The language of instruction is English.

🧵 2/ #ResearchSupportPartnershipUiO While available for drop-in guidance, I try to catch up with the #Danish #EthicaComplementoria sub-project. My research assistant has moved on after doing a first round of proofreading all 328 pages and tagging layout and text features. I'm playing around with the @TEIConsortium #TEI export from #Transkribus, which is the next step in the project: Creating a clean, valid marked-up text to become the basis for the #DigitalScholarlyEdition and further work.

So far, so impressive! It looks like it worked very well, with a few - expected - issues like the e/o superscripts being misread and some uppercase letters, which look different between the two prints. Correcting these won't take much time. I'll check the remaining four pages and decide whether to improve the current model for this particular print or not afterward! #EthicaComplementoria #Transkribus #DigitalScholarlyEdition

@dmaus @type bezieht sich hier auf Server-Uptime. Beide Dienste waren - zumindest im Fall von GAMS durch nicht vom Betreiber verantwortbare Infrastrukturausfälle - längere Zeit nicht verfügbar. Hier wäre "failsafe" eine besser gegen Cyberangriffe abgesicherte Infrastruktur. Im Fall des Abschaltens von HTR+ haben wir das Problem des Vendor-lock-in, das bei closed-source Software gerne mal vorkommt. "minimal edition" im Sinne von Martin Müller (project-endings) geht davon aus, daß die Editionswebseite mit nichts anderem als HTML-Renderer+JavaScript-Engine (=Browser) lesbar sind.
