So my daughter (mid-teen) leans over to me while I was driving her to her orthodontist appointment this evening, to show me this "new band she found that she thought I would like".
It's KMFDM.
I'm so proud of her.

A green anole pauses mid-climb, balanced on the edge of a kids scooter as sunlight catches its scales. A small moment of stillness in the middle of a busy day.

@chad also, you can play marbles with your spit
draw a circle. first person spits.
it'll freeze in mid-air.
next person tries to knock it out of the circle...
(if you chew different color candy, you know who's marbles are whose, but we never planned that far ahead)

KIDWELLY: Firefighters rescue three lambs trapped 20 metres underground in stone culvert
Firefighters from Kidwelly have rescued three lambs after the animals became trapped deep inside an underground stone culvert near Monksford Street.
Crews were called out at 9.39pm and found the lambs approximately 20 metres down a culvert buried three to four metres underground. With no straightforward way in, they used a hose inflation kit, general purpose lines, shovels and spades to dig a series of holes along the surface to locate the culvert before retrieving the animals.
All three lambs were safely returned to their owner. The crew left the scene at 11.46pm.
Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service shared photos of the rescue team with two of the lambs — all smiles despite being caked in mud after more than two hours of digging in the dark.
Two members of the Kidwelly crew with the rescued lambs. (Image: Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service)It is not the first time the Kidwelly crew have gone above and beyond for local animals — as Swansea Bay News reported, fire crews also rescued 34 animals from a Carmarthenshire dog sanctuary when flooding struck the area.

My sister died of #melanoma in her mid-40s. As kids in the 60s and 70s, she and the rest of us spent way too much time in the sun without protection - nobody told us the risks. Now we are all more careful. So the idea of using a tanning bed, to purposely damage skin, seems ludicrous to me. Yet millions of people still do, despite the known risks, which this dermatologist explains.

This is a very mid- or elder millennial thing; younger #millennials like Bo Burnham (who's only 4 yrs younger than me) got hit hard w/the freedom & abandon to post vids of themselves on #SM. For my class tho, kids putting their real identities & antics up on the Internet was utterly unacceptable, according to our parents & even I'd say our own senses of self-preservation & privacy...
Does this resonate or have I got it wrong? Share your perspective I'd love to see what the #fediverse thinks 💛👍

So I show up with my mid-tail (a Yuba #Kombi), and the kids, who are in the super spacious almost 3ft-wide box in the #Cetma that my wife is riding, are like "we wanna go on dad's bike!"
So they both pile on, despite only having one cushion ("I'm sitting on a bike lock! " -7yo humblebrag)
And of course after a minute, the 7yo complains that the 12yo coughed loudly in her ear, and they start fighting about who should be banished to the bakfiet. 🙄

Some Live out here on deck: when my kids were little, in the mid 90s, they’d climb into the cab of my ‘81 Chevy Custom Deluxe pickup and my oldest, Ryan, who was eight at the time, would ask to hear “Lightning Crashes.” Who was I to say no?

In the mid- to late 1980s in New Brunswick, when I was still a Jehovah’s Witness kid, I was friends with another JW kid named Julie Nahornov. Her dad’s name was Nick, and she had a big sister named Mona.
She was really cool, and probably one of my only friends, though I didn’t get to hang out with her much. She introduced me to the kind of music my parents didn’t listen to: Prince, The Dead Milkmen, Madonna, etc. She was the first person to ever make me a mixtape.
We used to go exploring in the forest together. I had very few friends growing up, so to have someone like this was very special and meaningful to me.
She moved away and I lost track of her. The last I heard, she was somewhere out in the prairie provinces on a horse ranch which produced pee for birth control pills or perm solution. Maybe both. Every few years I try to look her up, but I’ve never seen a sign of her online. She’d be in her early 50s now.
Wherever she is, I hope she’s doing well. #LostConnections #Memories #friendship

If you've lost or left behind a friend, even a shitty one, over all this bullshit... If you miss that person in all their shittiness... I feels ya.
Was watching #TheDessert, new show from #BruceMcCulloch of #KidsInTheHall
It's funny, and twisted. It's the same comedy, but without any kind of censorship. I'm actually mid-decision about what I think of that, but holy shit, it's funny. Funny is always funny.
The sort of thing we would once have watched together, him and I, risking heart attacks.

My entire collection of #conceptmaps focus on helping kids in high poverty areas move through school and into jobs/careers by their mid-20s and the role volunteers can take to help them. This one is an example. https://cmapspublic.ihmc.us/rid=1238727620187_267488666_30240/Mentoring%20Kids%20to%20Careers%20a.cmap
I focus on #Chicago & would love to find people w similar collection of maps that focus on other cities, states, reservations, etc.
