  12. CW: Women’s football; WSL spoiler

Amazing night alongside 40,063 others at the #Emirates to watch #ArsenalWomen play #ManUtd

Disappointing result - I thought #Arsenal had done enough, but they were just very vulnerable defensively. Zinsberger looked particularly shaky under the high ball.

Bad to see #BethMead get injured too - looked like a sore one to the knee. Fingers crossed for a quick recovery🤞

And hey - still top of the league! And my wee boy loved it despite the score ❤️

  14. CW: UK Politics; Sewage dumping

    💩💩💩

‘Southern Water has discharged raw sewage for more than 3,700 hours at 83 bathing water beaches during the first eight days of November alone’

#SOSWhitstable have been monitoring the discharges and described it as “the worst [they] have ever seen sewage pollution in the south-east”🚨

  15. CW: UK Politics; Tampon Tax rip off

Remember the sexist absurdity that was the #TamponTax? ✅

Remember when campaigners successfully fought for its abolition? ✅

Remember when retailers passed on the benefit of the VAT cut to customers? ❌

Wait. They didn't? Well, they bloody well should (pun intended)

  16. CW: UK Politics; Tampon Tax rip off

The woman behind the #EndTamponTax campaign - Laura Coryton - has started a new petition, calling on retailers to do the right thing (at last) and pass on the benefit of the VAT cut to their customers

  17. CW: UK News; Tampon Tax rip off

To be clear, the #EndTamponTax campaign was not about cost (IMO) - it was about ending the sexist absurdity of taxing menstrual products as if they were ‘non-essential’ items

But retailers cheering equality publicly whilst ripping off consumers secretly is Not On

  18. CW: UK News; Tampon Tax rip off

It takes a pretty wicked cynicism to pocket the change from the #EndTamponTax campaign win - but it looks like that's what retailers have done

Time to stop profiteering from our periods 🤬

Great research from @danneidle to uncover this scandal 💪

  19. CW: World Cup; Concussion

Horrible to see the Iranian keeper being stretchered off - and especially grim to see Quieroz and the Iranian camp trying to get him to stay on when he was so clearly injured

  20. CW: UK Politics; Brexit; Law

“A plan by ministers to review or repeal all EU laws on the UK statute book by the end of 2023 has suffered another setback after the discovery of 1,400 additional pieces of legislation”

  21. CW: UK Politics; post-Brexit

If Rishi Sunak is looking for yet another u-turn, Jacob Rees-Mogg’s ridiculous plans to axe EU laws would be a great place to start

Even leading Brexiter Theresa Villiers thinks the proposal to axe thousands of laws is ‘unworkable and unnecessary’

  22. CW: UK Politics; Raab bullying

Interesting - Sunak has appointed an independent barrister - Adam Tolley KC - to investigate the Raab bullying allegations

I wonder if he’s had to go down this route because he can’t find anyone sufficiently masochistic to accept the role of independent adviser on ethics? 🤔

  23. CW: UK Politics; ethics

‘Ever since Johnson overrode a report that found Priti Patel had bullied staff, “everyone accepted it would be fruitless to complain”’

Good piece on Whitehall’s “murky complaints process”. Lately it seems civil servants believe they’ll get a better outcome if they leak complaints to the media rather than raising them internally

Great piece from Migrants’ Rights Network on why we should resist all attempts to normalise words like “invasion”, “swarm” or “influx” when talking about migrants - words that aim to “detract from the humanity of the people seeking safety or a new life”

😱 4 Johnson aides, including 2 who would become the youngest life peers IN HISTORY

😡 Paul Dacre, former Daily Mail editor

  30. I have a complicated home life which has meant an unexpected interest both in #Arsenal and #ManUtd (don’t @ me, it hurts me too)

I also support #AberdeenFC but that may be too niche even for here 😆

Love the #ScotlandNationalTeam but I will take my half-English kids to see #England #Lionesses (not least until Scotland qualify for a major tournament again)
