Trying to do battery powered stuff on a TinyS3 with #CircuitPython. This means using the low power #RISCV #ULP to count pulses. Thing is, how do I figure out where the ULP stores that in memory? If it were C, I would have a pointer. I wonder how I can get the compiler to spill the beans?

It's the weekend I finally have time to dive deeper into CircuitPython and Adafruit's Blinka library. I also got a 2nd Adafruit PyPortal and have a ton of RPIs lying around. Actually, come to think of it, I have a ton of all kinds of components lying and it's time to do something fun 🤓 #CircuitPython #Adafruit #Blinka

For the programmable #stemmaQT friend I was originally thinking of an fpga like the Mach xo2 (because it can be loaded over i2c). However, small arm chips are much cheaper and more available. Right now, I’m prototyping with an STM32G0 that is 80 cents in singles from LCSC. It has 8k ram and 32k flash. Most importantly, it has a ROM i2c bootloader! So, hopefully this’ll be a simple arm core complement to something running #CircuitPython.

This baby monitor project has re-surfaced an idea I had for a programmable #StemmaQT board. It’d be an easy way to add a core or peripheral outside of a main #CircuitPython controller. The main code would load a small set of custom code (in this case to monitor the LEDs and press the buttons) over i2c and then talk to it over i2c. Basically, in this case it’s an up expander but it can be used for other things.

Not a USB Rubber Ducky, but this #Serpente R2 (@arturo182) running #circuitpython & some HID programming should do the job with 2 Push button + a x4 DIP switch to select Payload.
Will be easy to keep it tiny by soldering all on a small piece of protoboard 😎 -
I heard it’s #CircuitPythonDay and I just received some treasures ... only have to find some time to have fun with all this 😇

Anyone know if the Circuitpython Neopixel implementation uses PIO on the RP2040? The existence of neopixel_write in the HAL for CP implies it does...
But if so, what if you have an application that also wants to use PIO? How are conflicts managed?

Anyone out there own a #FruitJam running #CircuitPython? I'm hosting a panel discussion next week with some devs who have created some apps for the Fruit Jam. What do you want to know about developing for the Fruit Jam? Let me know!

#TIL: today I tinkered a bit with CircuitPython and the ESP32-C3 Super Mini. Nothing special, just letting some LEDs flash and reading out some sensors. #make #tinker #circuitpython

@rpimag I gave MicroPython a whirl (as CircuitPython doesn't support Bluetooth on the the Pico W) and wrote questionable code that scans BLE for Inkbird ITH-11-B Thermo-Hygrometers every few minutes and relays the data (humidity/temperature/battery level/rssi/MAC address) to my MQTT server over WiFi.
I then have another script which saves the data from MQTT and graphs using RRDtool.

A tutorial on using PyCharm & Tio with CircuitPython. This is the editor I use for my course. Setup isn't intuitive & there are a few spots that can trip folks up, but I've found it to be the best available editor. Also sharing a tip sheet. Hope this helps some: https://youtu.be/zTRMT5xupRo #CSEd #STEMed

PyCharm is a fantastic editor for #CircuitPython. I use it in my #PhysicalComputing course. The IDE has changed recently so here is an updated install video focused on the @raspberrypi pico dealing with the quirks of editing & running code on a microcontroller https://youtu.be/5LoXTVGlNVU?si=9_XAXPUFRibtQjhl

Trying out some synth interface ideas in CircuitPython using one of my "picostepsynth" (aka "picostepknobs") proto PCBs and synthio.
I really want to use pots, but I also want the pots to do multiple things. So figuring out a "knob pickup" algorithm that works intuitively is challenging. I'm getting close tho.

How to Re-initialize a Stuck #ESP32 (in #CircuitPython) -- something I needed when working on my particulate air quality #sensor but I'm sure I'll need it for many other projects:

SerialPlotster! I miss the #Arduino serial plotter when doing #CircuitPython / #MicroPython, but it's too greedy with the serial port. I wanted a tiny stand-alone data plotter app, so I built one (w/claude's help). It's pretty flexible on data input and fast to launch https://github.com/todbot/SerialPlotster

Had a bit more fun with #esp32 and #circuitpython - I really love how quick you can iterate and protoype with circuitpython!
Added a PIR motion sensor and a SR04 sonar sensor to the setup.
The sonar sensor was really easy, the PIR sensor needed a bit of tinkering to understand what dial does what.
Both works well.
Now to set an alarm when either of them goes off to wake the device up from light sleep. Let's see which one works best for that scenario.
But this is so much fun!
