  1. @futurebird @jayalane @mekkaokereke Could be a way to stop cars from parking at street corners. The #FDNY doesn't like having to make tight turns. Will start photographing cars parked at intersections and send to the FDNY.

  2. @capntransit @TheOverheadWire An #NYCDEP zoom just ended where #Cloudburst Hubs were presented. There is a hub for #KissenaPark. The design should help minimize flooding.

  3. @TheOverheadWire I can see why this is the #1 read article. The #RainWay is amazing. So true that daylighting a creek is not possible in many cases. This IS possible and invaluable. Will be recommending it to all I know.

  4. Today I double down on everything. Called Kathy Hochul to suggest she start congestion pricing. Local Dem Party meeting is next Wednesday where if they don't discuss their utter failure, I will bring it up. The Dem party needs to examine itself seeing how they lost so badly.

  5. Interesting article about Roman #concrete and why it lasts so long. 2000 years. It was never reinforced but it was self-healing. Cracks would fix themselves. Reinforced concrete used these days only lasts 50 years. All our infrastructure needs to be redone because they used shitty building methods.

  6. Not a member of #Citibike as have my own bikes. Recently wanted to use it but unlock fee was $4.79. As a senior I pay half fare for transit so had to compare that to $1.40 for whole trip. No way! Citibike needs city funding or rates should vary with presence of other transit methods.

  7. On a bus about to enter the Lincoln tunnel. Held up by private cars. Fuck Kathy Hochul.

  8. Cleaning my Thunderbird Inbox, hit upon a bunch of emails written during my recent visit to Yosemite in August, 2023.

If people paid more in taxes, maybe the national park service could afford to have electric trucks rather than fossil fuel stinky trucks that move around making people's trips really disgusting. Belching fumes. In a natural setting in a national park. Unfucking believable.

  13. Looking into ADA requirements for ramps and steps but found a bit about how curb ramps should prevent an accumulation of water.
    access-board.gov/ada/guides/ch

Paragraph 406.1 says that Curb ramps must be designed to prevent an accumulation of water.
Does that mean all intersections where there are curb ramps and water accumulates are out of compliance? Sounds this a motivation for continuous sidewalks?

  23. @Nathanpboston @gpk I live in NYC and understand its way too expensive to rewire the building and do not expect to change its wiring. Totally believe the ONLY solution to the grid is and in the case of to have safe batteries in every apartment. Would allow running all variety of electric appliances like stovetops and electric ovens.
