Suspect in #NYC #UnitedHealthcare CEO #shooting apparently did *not* use #CitiBike. Still, those rentals might be reactionarily paused.

It’s weird to me that taking a cab on short haul (<3 miles) trips with two people is cheaper than a #citibike - I knew they didn’t get subsidies, but I didn’t realize they pay extra to operate in #nyc 🤷♀️ 💡 #bikeNYC should be cheaper than a cab.

Not a member of #Citibike as have my own bikes. Recently wanted to use it but unlock fee was $4.79. As a senior I pay half fare for transit so had to compare that to $1.40 for whole trip. No way! Citibike needs city funding or rates should vary with presence of other transit methods.

#verkehrsverbund A horribly long German word but its very pronounceable and an amazing idea. Why can't the #NYC #MTA and #Citibike get together and offer an annual subscription to both services? That would cover the whole transportation market! Do away with all the individual trip costs. Make riding transit feel free like owning a car. Make the annual ticket a sunk cost. -

Hard to capture the number of #nypd and cop cars of every size on every block from my bike.
And the #press covering how the protestors prevent folks from getting around … is itself occupying the public #bikenyc #citibike station actually interfering w peoples ability to get around.
It feels like it’s an occupied zone.
I am feeling shame and sadness this morning.

TIL about "wrenching”.
The #CitiBike bikeshare program has e-bikes & pedal bikes. E-bikes cost money to use; pedal bikes are free to members.
If a bike station has no pedal bikes available, only e-bikes, you can get a free e-bike ride.
"Wrenching" is pressing the 'wrench' button (marking a bike as broken) on every pedal-bike in the station so you get a free e-bike ride. The 'broken' bikes remain disabled & unusable for everyone until the techs come out to replace them.
People are jerks.

I love that #BlueBikes has a 24hr pass for $10 w/ unlimited 2 hour rides. Amtrak charges $20 (each way) to bring a bike, so doing #bikeshare makes a lot more sense.
Meanwhile, #Citibike's 24hr pass is twice as expensive ($19) and only allows 30min rides. :(

If #ForestHills had #BikeShare, I'd happily use it instead of my own personal #bike. My personal (non-cargo) bike gets used about once per month, so the tires are always under inflated when I need it.
Alas, no plans for #expansion despite there being an obvious path along the #QueensBlvdPBL.
