Here it goes again. Cockroach Labs is moving #CockroachDB to a fully proprietary license.
To be fair, they've already shifted away from #opensource back in 2019, when they replaced Apache2 with Business Source License #BSL for their Core.
(* just realized they've taken down the 2019 blog)This joins the recent #relicensing of #Redis, #Terraform and other prominent #FOSS projects. Which brings us back to the fundamental question:

The dark side of open source goes beyond rights ratchet.
Sad to see HashiCorp, the once great FOSS champion, reducing itself to legal intimidation of OSS projects it perceives as competition.
If it's indeed FUD, OpenTofu will come out stronger in the community, while Hashi wanes.
