@gabrielesvelto I’d love to see everyone delete their meta, x and google accounts on the same day. #FuckMeta #fuckbigtech #FuckBillionaires oh the wonderful panic that would ensue as the tech industry goes into meltdown when they realise that they are not in control. .. Sadly, just a dream.

FYI there's a new crowdfunding campaign for new modules and music for the gothic orror RPG Shadow of Esteren. If you're looking for a non-conventional tabletop RPG with a ruleset that greatly favors storytelling and acting your character over mechanical rules then you might want to give it a shot.

A Star Brighter Than the Sun gets a second season, yay!
-
@animefeminist hands down A Star Brighter Than the Sun. I'm super-eager for good shōjo adaptations and getting one that actually looks good is a rarity.

@simonzerafa @gabrielesvelto isn't the due any-month-now #theA1200 basically a Pi in a box too?

Hey #lazyverse I have a question about #Windows. Is it possible to use AVX/AVX2 instructions within a 32-bit program running on a 32-bit version of Windows 7? I couldn't find a definitive answer to this question, just hints that it might not be possible.
The context is that we've encountered an odd #Firefox crash that seems triggered by an AVX instruction (which is flagged as illegal) and only happens to 32-bit users on a 32-bit Windows 7 install.
[edit] Figured it out, thanks!

@gabrielesvelto Sorry, #SatyaNadella , #GenAI produces #slop. And #AI stands for ‘#ArtificialIdiot.’ Or more colloquially, a ‘#clanker.’

OK people, the 10th episode of May I Ask for One Final Thing absolutely blew my mind. I had been joking on @animefeminist discord that this show was Fist of the North Star but shojo... but I did not expect an episode chock full of direct, obvious references to that show. Shojo adaptation recreates Kenshiro's fight with Heart was not on my bingo card. I'll try posting some comparison screenshots tomorrow. It's absolutely bonkers.

Hokuto no Ken had this peculiar property of mixing turbo-testosterone-violence-comes-first masculinity with the complete opposite of it: from realizing the consequences of violence, to being very visibly emotional about it... to doing household chores because why not.

I think I've already shared this one, but it's just too good.
Also I feel seen because I've been watching the 1979 adaptation of Anne of Green Gables with my kids as well as Space Pirate Captain Harlock.

I haven't seen announced here in the fediverse yet, but version 0.6.0 of #sccache was just released:
https://github.com/mozilla/sccache/releases/tag/v0.6.0
sccache is a compilation-caching tool that can massively speed up your builds (and save power!) both locally and in CI. It supports both C/C++ and Rust and is very easy to use. If you're compiling a lot of stuff everyday you should definitely give it a try.

@gabrielesvelto according to my non extensive experience #google and #youtube keep thinking that #firefox users are using an #adblocker even when they aren't. They're fighting people's freedom. And non #privacyconcerned people will remain in the tentacles of #gafams 😱

I'm trying to do some very high resolution scans of the Bubblegum Crisis OST covers and booklets, but it's hard because my scanner sucks and I have to stitch various bits together. This is the result scaled down from a 12k image. I need to find a way that takes less manual work.

I've been slowly collecting all the OST CDs from Bubblegum Crisis with the intent of doing accurate rips of each of them as well as high-quality scans of the covers and booklets.
I'm really fond of this show and part of the reason why I want to do this conservation work specifically is that the only way to listen to its soundtrack nowadays is via the "remastered" releases on streaming services which are absolute garbage. And I mean real dumpster fire. 🧵 1/3

@wyatt watching old school anime like God intended: from a laser disc, on a CRT, with subtitles overlaid via an Amiga genlock

First time here. I was a bit on edge because I wanted to go with Fire Bomber at first, but then I decided to truly show my age and go back further with Priss and the Replicants from #BubblegumCrisis

I just realized that the song "Asu e touchdown" from the third episode of Bubblegum Crisis contains a fragment of the melody of Bohemian Rhapsody 🤯 . In the episode it starts around 20:40, and you can hear it in the linked video around the 15s mark, right when Nene appears.
I've attached the corresponding clip from Bohemian Rhapsody for comparison. When overlaying the tracks in an audio editor those ~12s match almost perfectly.

I was today years old when I learned about Dragon's Heaven, and it's really one of the most visually stunning pieces of animations I've ever seen. I learned about it via this video, and if you want to watch it you'll need to torrent it because - of course - it's not available anywhere. Oh, and there's a Bubblegum Crisis connection too in there, because good things never come alone.

New number of the "Between the Scanlines" fanzine just dropped! Thank you @SharkaBytes !

New Shadows of Esteren book just arrived and it's drop-dead gorgeous. It's also extremely well made. If you're looking for an RPG with gothic/romantic horror setting and a very strong emphasis on narrative and in-character play give it a shot. This is the French version but it's available in English too.

There's a new crowdfunding campaign for the #ShadowsOfEsteren #TTRPG (Les Ombres d'Esteren). Esteren is a a medieval, gothic RPG made by a French team. It has a strong focus on storytelling/role-playing and limited but deadly combat. The setting includes fantasy elements that mostly lay hidden from sight and are horrific in nature.
If you're curious the prologue which introduces the game system is available for free: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/109112/Shadows-of-Esteren--Book-0-Prologue
