    The A1200: Retro Games despeja dudas frecuentes

    Retro Games ha respondido a algunas de las dudas más habituales de la comunidad sobre el esperado The A1200. La compañía ha ofrecido nueva información acerca del software incluido, las capacidades de emulación, el hardware y el estado actual del proyecto.

    En el apartado de software, The A1200 llegará con Workbench 3.1 preinstalado. Según explica Retro Games, han optado por esta versión al considerarla la que ofrece la mejor experiencia de usuario. No obstante, quienes dispongan de otras versiones del sistema operativo podrán instalarlas fácilmente desde una unidad USB.

    El sistema ofrecerá además diferentes modos de inicio. Será posible arrancar directamente en el conocido carrusel de juegos, acceder de forma inmediata a Workbench o elegir entre ambas opciones cada vez que se encienda el equipo. Retro Games también ha querido destacar que The A1200 no ha sido concebido únicamente como una máquina para jugar, sino también como un entorno completo para el desarrollo y la productividad, motivo por el que incluirá diversas herramientas preinstaladas.

    En cuanto al hardware, la compañía asegura haber prestado especial atención a la fidelidad respecto al ordenador original. La carcasa reproduce la textura del Amiga 1200 clásico y el teclado ofrece un tacto muy similar al del modelo histórico. Entre sus conexiones se incluyen una salida HDMI, varios puertos USB y un teclado completamente funcional. La salida de vídeo funcionará a una resolución de 720p y el usuario podrá seleccionar distintas velocidades de CPU, permitiendo disfrutar de una experiencia más fluida y ágil que la ofrecida por el hardware original cuando así lo desee.

    Uno de los aspectos más destacados será su versatilidad. Aunque estéticamente recrea un Amiga 1200, The A1200 podrá configurarse para funcionar como un Amiga 500 o una CD32, además de ser compatible con los modos gráficos OCS, ECS, AGA y RTG. También será capaz de ejecutar imágenes de disquete, discos duros, CD-ROM y sistemas basados en WHDLoad, ampliando notablemente las posibilidades tanto para juegos como para aplicaciones.

    Respecto a la compatibilidad, Retro Games afirma haber trabajado para alcanzar el mayor nivel posible con el software clásico de Amiga. Aun así, reconoce que un número muy reducido de títulos podría presentar algún problema de funcionamiento debido a las particularidades de determinados programas originales.

    En el apartado de periféricos, The A1200 será compatible con una amplia variedad de gamepads, joysticks y ratones USB. Asimismo, quienes conserven periféricos originales podrán seguir utilizándolos mediante adaptadores USB desarrollados por terceros.

    Por último, Retro Games ha confirmado que el firmware ya ha alcanzado el estado de versión final, conocido en la industria como «gone gold», y que la producción en masa del equipo ya ha comenzado en China, un hito que acerca cada vez más la llegada de The A1200 al mercado.
