Questo è per i miei amici #italiani (della mia età).
Ieri sera mi è capitato di vedere, per caso, il remake di Kenshiro in 3D...
L'ho voluto vedere perché comunque non potevo resistere al richiamo della tecnica dei Cento pugni di Hokuto... 😚
Non mi aspettavo di essere sorpreso ed in effetti non lo sono stato. Quel tipo di cell shading non mi piace, quello studio in particolare non riesce proprio a dare dinamismo ai propri modelli e sono sempre troppo legnosi e rigidi. L'effetto non è male ma in termini di animazioni, a quel livello, è migliore quella tradizionale.
Poi uno direbbe: «vabbeh, almeno col modello 3D hai più consistenza e i disegni non cambiano da una scena all'altra o da una puntata all'altra.»; ebbene mi sono dovuto mordere la lingua, le scene minori usano modelli di pessima qualità ancora più rigidi e poco dettagliati.
Cosa non mi è piaciuto affatto? I dialoghi sono terribili sia in italiano che in inglese, ma la cosa peggiore è che le scene di combattimento diventano progressivamente monocromatiche, che invece di aumentare il livello di dramma rendono i modelli ancora più statici, il bello dell'animazione sono proprio i colori saturi, questa scelta artistica è stata veramente molto infelice.
Penso che me lo terminerò di vedere lo stesso comunque... 😚

OK people, the 10th episode of May I Ask for One Final Thing absolutely blew my mind. I had been joking on @animefeminist discord that this show was Fist of the North Star but shojo... but I did not expect an episode chock full of direct, obvious references to that show. Shojo adaptation recreates Kenshiro's fight with Heart was not on my bingo card. I'll try posting some comparison screenshots tomorrow. It's absolutely bonkers.

The ending of the series has Kenshiro just...soldiering on.
It ends with him disconnected from everyone, acknowledging that he had his one great love who will be with him forever, and that the world still needs him to help.
So...he does.
The last panel of him just standing there ready to move on and fight, as needed, says it all.
His story is not over and may never be, so long as he is needed.

Ken and Rin. They're not end goals. I think we all knew that, even as Bat tried to force it to happen feeling unworthy of the woman he has loved since they were children. He was never competing with Kenshiro, though. He was fighting himself internally.
Ugh.
Love, again, a big story component.

Mistodon: Cthulu will never forget walking into the repertory cinema in downtown Vancouver's theatre row circa 1995 and taking in a triple feature for $5. The first movie was The Crow, and the second was the hitherto unknown #FistOfTheNorthStar, or #HokutoNoKen. Once you see this flick, you never forget it (unlike whatever the third movie on the bill was), so when it was time to draw some #ANSIart for last month's #anime-themed MIST0825 artpack collection, he knew where he had to go. (He uncharacteristically drew so much ANSI for this pack, sometimes his head felt like this guy's.)

Yes, I got emotional. Yes, I was tearing up while sitting on my couch reading.
Fist of the North Star brings out emotions in me.
