In some cases, the cybernetically rebuilt Brera controls his fighter from afar making Brera himself the remote control!

As you, @apc , might know, there are quite a lot of great anime that features unrequited love in a different ways, like Sasameki Koto, Strawberry Panic, Simoun and Cardcaptor Sakura… but I think «Bloom into You» shows this aspect in a most unusual and sophisticated manner.
For Nanami Touko, who suddenly fell in love with Koito Yuu, unrequited love doesn’t mean struggle and rejection — I’d say for both of them it ultimately means mutual trust and acceptance! Both of them didn’t quite understand romantic feelings before, but for Touko everything is changed, while Yuu still remains the same. However, Yuu still wants to catch that feeling somehow… Sounds a bit complicated, but it is what it is!

@apc, I'm gonna cheat just a little and submit the entire Macross Franchise!
One of the three "core pillars" of any Macross series is the inclusion of a love triangle. And ultimately, there are winners and losers in said triangles leaving at least one character to direct Unrequited Love towards another.

Villains? I'll go back to one of my earliest shows with *Last Exile* and Maestro Delphine. She's the head of the Guild and this uncaring, manipulative, cruel sadist character behind most of the turmoil in the series. Closings? How about the one from *Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie*. A couple alternate #anime examples for Starting Line for this week's #AniMangaFoundIt topic:
First, I had a second pick from #MacrossFrontier featuring Alto Saotome's YF-29 Durandal launching from the Macross Quarter's smaller, single-surfaced flight deck while supported by genki songstress Ranka Lee.
Second, I had Lemon Yakishio from #TooManyLosingHeroines. As one of her school's top sprinters she sees plenty of starting lines.

@apc, I've always enjoyed the efficient use of 3D space employed by the Guantanamo Class Stealth Carriers in Macross.
Essentially four flying flight decks arranged around a central landing bay, they are able to sortie multiple fighters at once. Given that variable fighters are pretty much the king of land, air, and space combat in the Macross universe, having a type of ship that can quickly get a lot of them off the starting line and into combat is a real plus.

In the first episode of #RevueStarlight, musical theater actress in training Karen Aijo has a brief premonition dream sequence where a mysterious girl wearing a twinned star hair pen pushes her off Tokyo Tower.
Thus starts this weird, wild, mishmash of theater kid drama and magical armed stage combat set to song and dance.
