W sprawie mateczki która miała zastąpić żółtą… chyba jej nie polubiły i utłukły. Dostały więc dziś ramkę z jajeczkami z sąsiedniego ula i to ich ostatnia szansa, niby późno, ale albo sobie wyhodują nową mamę, albo o zimowaniu mogą zapomnieć. Co za jędze. :D
No i wciąż jest szansa, że wcale jej jednak nie utłukły tylko się po prostu schowała. Zobaczymy… -

Hi #bee folks, I recently found a hive of wild bees on #Bute #Scotland. To me they look very dark and I was wondering if they are the native race of British Black Bees. Can anyone confirm/comment from my picture? Thanks. #beekeeping

My last beehive died out during the extreme heat. Not because bees can't handle the heat, but because their numbers were so low from the pesticide poisoning they couldn't regulate the hive temperature. I broke it down today. I'm more than a little bummed out. 😕 I'll be back next spring.
We were definitely fortunate to harvest 2.5 gallons of honey our 1st year so it hasn't been a complete loss, and I learned a lot.

The bees all eventually moved into the top box but I think there was some drift too and the bottom box got more active. The box has comb on all frames except 2 that are bare foundation so not much has to be done and I think there are enough bees they'll be ok before winter. There's lots of honey and pollen in the hive and they are finding pollen somewhere I've noticed since they were moved in plus I have a pollen patty in there.

We had our honey harvest tested by the local beekeeping store today. The moisture content was under 17% and it's considered Grade A by USDA standards. The owners/my mentors said it was delicious. They asked if I wanted to sell it to the store. So maybe I'll keep doing this beekeeping thing.

Well the hive inspection went slightly better than expected. After getting done and out of my suit I shook my friend's hand and said, "Congratulations, it's several thousand girls!"
After combining the hives with the younger queen they are starting to build back up again. It's still borderline on survival but it gives me hope at least.
