Hmm, Cornell says our honey sample (out of the pesticide killed hive) is clean. 100% clean.
Zero pesticides detected out of 96 tested.

Good news. Found a tree full of bees, foraging blossoms today in the neighborhood. So, must be some recovery in populations here after that pesticide event. #beekeping

Do I get a raising queens badge or something when the queen cell that got removed hatches?
I saw bee messing around by the queen cells after I came back from sting triage then looked again and noticed it was a queen. It fell off the top of the hive, got caught up in a couple of spiderwebs under the other hive, then fell to the ground where I caught it.
I marked her and put her in the 1st nuc.

How does this work? -
Hmm, was going to move a hive of bees to an empty spot, and a swarm moved into the empty box there in the last day or so, LOL. We are about to tip from "not enough bees" to "too many bees" once again. #beekeping

Prepping for the upcoming #beekeping season with some new hive boxes.

Combined a bit of beekeeping and bicycling this morning (didn't need much gear, impossible otherwise). I'm going to suspect no one has ever done that before, LOL. Just had to bait some hives, hoping to replace some lost hives in a few backyards around here. (Update: ha! This has been done... in Chicago!) #beekeping #bicycling

#beekeping lesson of the day: do not buy plastic queen clips. Broke another one when it went through the wash.

Had to murder a queen bee today. She was pretty. #beekeping

#beekeping note: another #swarm scouting an empty box here. Haven't had time (in between hail, snow, freezing weather, rain) to move the last two swarms that showed up here.
