This is big news for #OpenLiberty users: https://openliberty.io/blog/2023/04/04/23.0.0.3.html OpenLiberty 23.0.0.3 is a STABLE release with #JakartaEE 10 support (all profiles) and #MicroProfile 6. If you want full support of #JakartaEE 10 from #OpenLiberty you can get it in version 23.0.0.1, but that is still in beta (for now). See this blog for details: https://openliberty.io/blog/2023/01/03/23.0.0.1-beta.html #IBM #Java #JavaEE

@javajuneau Two of my favorites. I hear the beta of #OpenLiberty fully implements all #JakartaEE 10 as well.

It seems like @emilyjiang is the only #OpenLiberty #IBM engineer here. The only one I have found so far. No #OpenJ9 devs either. Someone prove me wrong (again). #Java #JakartaEE #JavaEE

Where are all my #Java #JavaEE #JakartaEE peeps at? I am looking for you #WildFly and #OpenLiberty developers.

The first release candidate of #Gradle 8.8 was released VERY quietly more than two weeks ago by the @Gradle team. It has FULL support for #JDK22, meaning you can run Gradle itself and projects that require #JDK 22 features (and not need to use toolchains). https://docs.gradle.org/8.8-rc-1/release-notes.html #Java #OpenJDK #OpenSource

@mreinhold Hey @Gradle, would be nice to see a beta or release candidate that supports #JDK22 soon.

For #Java #developers interested in new #JDK versions: #Eclipse's #OpenJ9 0.43 has been released and includes support for JDK 8, 11, 17, and now 21. See the release notes here: github.com/eclipse-open... Also, #IBM has new #Semeru binary packages and installers based on this release here: https://developer.ibm.com/languages/java/semeru-runtimes/downloads/ #OpenSource #OpenJDK #OpenJDK21

There has been some interesting discussion on #JakartaEE 11 and #Java servers over on Twitter. The draft of the spec has been updated to require JDK 17 rather than requiring JDK 21. I agree with the decision. To maximize adoption, JakartaEE must support JDK 17 and optionally JDK 21. Dropping JDK 11 is the best we can hope for right now.

One of the most critical features #Mastodon needs? #FullTextSearch! I know people are working on it. Hopefully will become standard on most instances in the near future. Otherwise, we encourage #hashtag #spam like this: #fulltext #openSource #PostgreSQL #ElasticSearch #ApacheSolr (get my point?)

Now is the time that lower level #Java libraries and tools need to be preparing #JDK22 (byte)code compatibility. #OW2's ASM 9.6 is already there and so is #ByteBuddy. Even #ApacheGroovy 4.0 and 5 alpha look ready. As for build tools ... well ... #Java #OpenSource

Now if only #Apache #TomEE could pick up the pace a bit as well. 🤞 (oh hi @dblevins) Note that #TomEE is at 9.0 RC1 and is Jakarta EE 9 compliant. Get it here: https://tomee.apache.org/download.html
