Most blockbusters either strip the mechanics bare (swap Nolan's characters for wind-up toys, the plot runs the same) or skip the engineering - just vibes and a runtime

Disclosure Day presenta a un Spielberg que sigue siendo Spielberg y a la vez está de vuelta de Spielberg.
Es mi resumen.
Y es que El día de la revelación sabe a un resumen de una de las líneas creativas principales del mítico director: su ciencia ficción alienígena.
Este filme es eso, una línea, la desnudez de lo hizo o aquello que hacía en su chasis, la mínima expresión de su cine, y sin mimos. Una línea no en el guion, que se extiende demasiado para contar lo que cuenta (sabía que habría un buen presupuesto). Una línea quizá consecuencia de cierta desgana para vestir la película e incidir en los points que plantea. Parece -por el sucinto desarrollo, no por el generoso montaje-, que grabó el esquema o la sinopsis antes que el guion mismo, y que luego montó extras.
Esta película es un sustancioso paseo por el marco y un esprint por el dibujo.
Hay planos muy bonitos, muy spielbergianos, dos protas solventes que hacen lo que pueden con lo que tienen; y una decisión plausible consistente en dejar para el final la revelación y la aparición (a destacar la bonita aportación de las imágenes de archivo retro ficcionadas o la introducción de esa presentadora de informativo emocionada y shockeada), así como no esquivar asuntos morales y -no o- espirituales. Todo está y aporta, pero se queda aferrado con chinchetas... Como los puntos a tocar de un escritor de mapa o como un escritor de brújula demasiado confiado.
Spielberg parece reconocer que esto fue un capricho porque ama rodar (y se lo puede permitir). Hacer lo que se quiere sin tener que pensar en la espada de Damocles de la taquilla es un lujo reservado a pocas personas, a indies y a gente que tiene el aval de una obra detrás y/o es una marca.
Esto lo vimos antes y mejor, a él entre otros.

Watched #Spielberg’s #WarHorse yesterday. Wouldn’t call it a masterpiece, but it is a good movie. Having the German speak English with a German accent, and the French speak English with a French accent, when they’re talking to each other (no English speaking character in the scene) is an odd choice, especially when later in the film an English character mentions that a German speaks good English. I’d rather have had them speak scene-appropriate languages with subtitles, as in #IngloriousBasterds

🎬Ayer vi la última de Spielberg.
Y sé que voy a contracorriente, pero no me entusiasmó.
Tiene momentos visualmente muy buenos, porque Spielberg sigue siendo Spielberg, pero la historia no terminó de engancharme.
Me dio la sensación de que quería contar demasiadas cosas a la vez y al final ninguna acabó de emocionarme.Viendo las críticas después, parece que no soy la única.
Bastantes coinciden en que está lejos de sus mejores películas y que el guion se pierde por el camino.
Yo añadiría que, en algunos momentos, me costó conectar con lo que estaba viendo.Igual el problema es mío, no lo descarto.
Pero terminé la película con la sensación de haberme perdido algo importante.Así que, si alguien la ha visto y ha entendido exactamente qué quería contar... que me la explique, porque yo sigo intentando encajar las piezas. 😅

We watched #DisclosureDay this evening, I had no idea #Spielberg had a #movie like that in him any more, it's just amazing with no hand holding, you're just dropped into this world and expected to play catch-up the whole film, perfect.

Also Dosclosure Day von #Spielberg zeigt wieder mal deutlich: Spare nicht beim Drehbuch! Selten einen Film gesehen mit so vielen offenen Fäden und so wenig innerer Figurenproblematik. Das wirkt dann irgendwann nur platt, finde ich. Aber dafür war Emily Blunt grandios wie immer.

Boy do I love a movie full of Easter Eggs.That's why, when #HBO was re-running the hell out of "Barbie", I watched that thing every time they re-ran the thing, the male eye-candy notwithstanding. Now it's re-running the hell out of "Ready Player One", whose main theme is one particular Easter Egg, and each time I watch it I'm similarly finding new nerdy stuff to spot. The final Egg award is chock full of 'em even though the focus was on an old Atari machine. Right there in a corner where one of the desks was, I spied a friggin' Commie!
For those too young to know what I'm talking about, that's a Commodore computer to you. HAH! But where gaming is concerned, not only the Commie should have been there but so should have a TI 99/4A. C'mon, #Spielberg !
