Walter Smith III - Twio
Having enjoyed a lot of Smith's output, including his sequel to this 2018 LP "Twio Vol. 2" (https://mas.to/@dnanian/116201875654715483), I figured it was worth the time to try to run this down on LP.
Achievement unlocked!
This collection of standards (+ 1 original) played by some modern greats (including Smith himself) - McBride (bass), Redman (tenor)...not to mention Harsh Ragavan (bass), and Eric Harland (drums).

Re-listen, but the new Vinylphyle edition.
There's no question that this new version is better than the already-awfully-good VMP edition.
A real workout for your analog rig, too...that's the limiting factor here.
On the Dog Rates scale, 14 out of 10. :-)

Early set on Prestige with Burrell, Coltrane, Tommy Flanagan, Paul Chambers and Jimmy Cobb - recorded in 1958 but not released for some reason until 1963.
Mostly the same group as was featured on The Cats (https://mas.to/@dnanian/111693261447294987), with similarly pleasing results. New remastering by Kevin Gray, nicely pressed and released by OJC.

Pino Palladino and Blake MIlls - That Wasn't a Dream
Their last collaboration (https://mas.to/@dnanian/111099355263896503) was four years ago, and this one has Mills on a fretless baritone sustainer guitar, just to add to the difficulty. (Remember that Mills is whose guitars Fiona Apple was writing about in "Rack of His".)
Anyway, it's full of Brazilian-sounding voicings and interesting interplay, and they're joined by Palladino's son Rocco & others.
