"Two tribes" - Frankie Goes to Hollywood
Holly starts by tearing up a copy of The Sun, and spends most of the performance walking through the crowd.
This is as close as they get to re-enacting the video, Soviet and Yankee flags on the stage and through the crowd, bright explosions of light. We don't have Reagan and Chernenko wrestling in the orchestra pit, but pretty much everything else, including a walking stick jammed into the air raid siren.
An anarchic celebration of their success, all the rest of the band on unusual instruments, perhaps knowing that this is the ninth and final week at number one.

If we weren't fully booked up for trips next year then we'd consider this. Something of interest to the #TOTP or 80s music crowd too: a week's cruise to Norway with entertainment from Holly Johnson, ABC, Go West, Nik Kershaw, and Pat Sharp amongst others.

There was a sample of someone saying "Lou, Lou, Lou" and I explained that this was from the live version of Lou Reed's Beginning of a Great Adventure. (Listening to the studio version - it's there too.) However, Liverpool was released in '87 and New York in '89.

That reminds me that Holly Johnson, who is the feature of the main article in this month's Classic Pop magazine, stated in the mag that after he was diagnosed with HIV in 1991 almost all his music world supposed friends suddenly disappeared.
The two he calls out who stuck by him and gave him the love & support he needed were Janice Long and Kirsty MacColl. As if you didn't need any more reasons to love those two wonderful women.

Ma conteneva una canzone, diventata un classico natalizio per il video, che ci parlava di qualcosa che il consumismo ha razionalmente cancellato dalla storia della Natività: l'esclusione.
