That reminds me that Holly Johnson, who is the feature of the main article in this month's Classic Pop magazine, stated in the mag that after he was diagnosed with HIV in 1991 almost all his music world supposed friends suddenly disappeared.
The two he calls out who stuck by him and gave him the love & support he needed were Janice Long and Kirsty MacColl. As if you didn't need any more reasons to love those two wonderful women.

I opened the envelope and took a brief glance at the front cover and thought "oh look, it's a fresh-faced young Rick Astley staring back at me".
But no. It is a fresh-faced young Holly Johnson staring back at me.
I'm not sure which of them would be most upset at being confused with the other!

Another in my occasional "well how on earth did I not previously know that" posts about 80s pop music:
TIL that not only did Trevor Horn write "Slave to the Rhythm" but he did so fully intending it to be recorded by Frankie Goes to Hollywood. It was only after the boys decided that it wasn't for them that he offered it to Grace Jones.
As it happens I can imagine what a FGTH version of that song might be like, and I feel it would be very very different from the version (still produced by Horn) that Grace Jones finally released.

später bin ich immer wieder bei den produktionen von #propaganda #fgth #artofnoise und anderen #ztt releases gelandet. und damit beim sound von producer Trevor Horn. der staccatoartige, üppige und doch klare sound, die überlangen mixes, (teils kitschige) seele in elektronischer popmusik war und ist das, was mich immer anzog und anzieht.

@dnanian My Mum threw my vinyl out many years ago. I would have loved to have kept them, just for the artwork and artist notes.
40 years since Welcome To The Pleasuredome was released next year. That would be the album I would back if I could have one.
