Can it be enabled first, with School Streets, building long-promised cycle schemes and developing others, and removing obstructions? Thanks!

Is it time to start trotting this out again? I think it might be. Incidentally, a search for "be safe be seen" on Google (private browsing, signed out) returns this very article as the third result at the moment!

Collision between a driver + cyclist in #Nuneaton. Of course there's no dedicated/shared cycling provision at the busy junction of Manor Court Rd/Midland Rd - despite cafes, takeaways, a school, church etc. Some responsibility for this needs to be taken by #Warwickshire_CC

I sent my objection in for this on Tuesday, asking for confirmation of receipt. The consultation closes today and so far I've heard nothing (I've sent a follow-up today). If it's not logged, I'll not be happy.

New on the website today: Looking at a small active travel scheme proposed as part of a "green corridor" in Bedworth, Warwickshire and asking whether it really looks at the bigger picture:

Starting to feel like #Warwickshire_CC #WarksHighways officers have chosen to take the "ignore him and he'll go away" route instead of properly dealing with this issue. No further reply from them, despite another follow-up email last week. Just silence.

Deliver for *road users*. It's not just drivers who benefit from fixing potholes. Motorcyclists, cyclists, pedestrians all benefit.
It would be nice if the continued fixation with driving that's plagued transport policy for years could be brought to an end.

A report shows #Warwickshire to be one of the hotspots for #cycling incidents - but is it any wonder? Despite promises of routes, social media activity, and an active travel focus in the County Council's LTP, there's still a lack of delivery on the ground.

The local Borough Council has proposed a new Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) to tackle antisocial behaviour, and it references cycling. Fortunately though, a straight ban on town centre riding is not on the cards!

Shocking, powerful stuff from Chris Boardman and Active Travel England.
A study of over 100 cycle schemes has revealed that old-fashioned schemes (i.e. just painting the road) will 'kill 10% more people than doing nothing and you get no uptake because it doesn't make people feel safe', whereas a scheme designed to modern standards will get 'between 20-60% increase in uptake and halve the number of deaths.'

Two weeks ago I pushed back against a dismissive complaint response from #WarwickshireCountyCouncil, asking for a proper reply by 11 September. This hasn't happened - not even an acknowledgement - so now I've emailed the Portfolio Holder for Transport asking if he'll look into it.

Nice chance meeting of Nuneaton's MP #Jodie_Gosling. After introducing myself, had a brief chat re access to routes, the problem of tackling antisocial motorcycle users, and catch-22 of upping legit users to discourage antisocial, when current antisocial use puts off legit use.

Anecdotal observation apropo of nothing...
During our recent hour rowing on the Serpentine, we were (I think) the only row boat amongst a busy lake of pedalos. But one of my photos from 2009 show that back then it was maybe nearer half-and-half.
Has leisure rowing fallen out of fashion?

First time riding the #ElizabethLine in #London! Only one stop from Bond Street to Paddington, but still, rather exciting to try the capital's newest line. Very nice it was too!
