@BicycleBen I hope everyone with any kind of voice, including me, who can at least write a coherent sentence, raises that voice to support Milliband strongly now. This idea seems at last like a pivot we can rally around. In my spare time this week I'll be asking whoever I can think of to get behind Milliband with this.

CW: Louise Haigh resigning as Transport Secretary (UKPol)
It does seem odd!
The thing in 2013 doesn't even sound bad: "She gave police a list of items she thought were missing from her handbag, but wrongly included her work phone which at the time she thought had been stolen."
She talks about it here, and it sounds like she also got poor legal advice at the time:

@BicycleBen while we're on this, the choice of roads for the #sustrans National Cycle Network also seems pretty anti-cyclist. I'm thinking particularly of the NCN7 west from Dumfries, which chooses hillier, more twisty routes with poor sightlines over flatter, straighter routes with better visibility.
As routes for effective #ActiveTravel, they're more or less useless.

@simon_brooke @BicycleBen The #NCN2 is rubbish in Purbeck in Dorset in that it prioritises sand and dirt paths suitable for mountain bikes over anything suitable for standard bikes

Just written to my MP on the extremely urgent subject of electoral reform. The two-party system is dead and FPTP is not fit for purpose. If Labour doesn't bring in PR now, it is putting the country at genuine risk in the next election.

Just saw Project Hail Mary - amaze, amaze, amaze! Did the book justice in my opinion, and a visual spectacle on the big screen. #Film #Cinema #ProjectHailMary

A nice, if very windy, ride at lunchtime today - one of those rare rides where everyone was patient and behaved themselves, coupled with a delightful spring day. That should've made it entirely stress free - but my goodness those potholes are getting extremely tiresome. #UKCycling #Cycling

Survey for Warwickshire people - cross-pavement EV charging is a bad idea, further surrendering and cementing the notion of ownership of public space, and introducing new failure points for pavements. Tensions over "parking in my spot" can already be high. This will make it much worse.

Fantastic evening of international #T20 women's #cricket at #Edgbaston. Both India + England fans on tenterhooks to the last ball with England just securing the needed single run to win! The Boy wore out his voice leading chants from the Family Stand to the amusement of others! Great fun! #ENGvIND

Popped in to Solihull today + a very nice little record shop, Manor House Records. Defo worth going in. Knowledgable, friendly, helpful owner(?) happy to put on records to try, making suggestions. Came away with The Dream Academy's debut 1985 LP + a 2022 album by Weyes Blood (not heard of before).

The Boy (and me) has just discovered that a number of Vitality Blast matches are shown on YouTube, including this evenings Bears v Yorkshire match. Never getting the TV back now! #Cricket #VitalityBlast #Twenty20 #BirminghamBears #WarwickshireCCC

Another superb cover from Nerina Pallot - this time it's Gilbert O'Sullivan's Alone Again, Naturally. I really hope these get a proper album release at some point!

New on the blog: Reporting an excessive speed limit on an important main road needed to access a brand new secondary school that is due to open in September. Will #WarwickshireCountyCouncil be proactive in road safety and get this dropped to 30mph before school starts?

Well, that's my #Adobe Photography subscription axed after eight years, thanks to the price hike. There were cancellation offers which were tempting but I think a clean break is the right decision. I'm moving over to #ON1 and #AffinityPhoto instead on perpetual licences.

Thinking about it, I'm maybe a bit worried about lock-in on #ON1 - If I decide to migrate to something else in the future, can I take my edits, tagging etc. with me or are those trapped? ON1 had a plug-in to migrate out of Lightroom which is fortunate, but no guarantee that option would exist again.
-
Playing with #ON1 Photo RAW with a mind to replacing #Lightroom. It took a day to migrate my catalogue over. Now it's time to play with basic edits, metadata, mapping, and exporting. The only thing I think that might be missing is face region tagging - a shame, but not a show-stopper.

Calling #WarwickshireCountyCouncil - let's get some more School Streets going and make the school run more fun! Children want it; most people will support it!

This sounds *extremely* positive, something I've been wanting to hear from Labour since before the election. #LouiseHaigh seems to get it; increasing #activeTravel has multiple societal benefits but needs investment.
Question is, how much money?

New on the blog this evening: Following a consultation on speed cushions to which I submitted an objection on cycle safety grounds, the Portfolio Holder's Report seen today appears to ignore most of that objection with only a cursory reference to cycling.

Not only has the modern Conservative Party exhausted all of its "talent" for cabinet positions resorting to dredging up the has-beens, Sunak has decided it's sensible to make Foreign Secretary the very person who instigated Britain's downfall and shunning of its neighbours.

Politics isn't working. It's time to call time on the broken culture in Westminster and have a fresh start with a fair voting system. Add your name to the Electoral Reform Society's call to #MakeSeatsMatchVotes
