  1. #Flanders is spending massively on new #cycling infrastructure at approx. €71 per capita per year (an order of magnitude more than the UK).

A lot of investment goes into the "fietssnelwegen", a fantastic network of long-distance cycling corridors between cities.

Treat yourself to this time lapse of a new pedestrian and cyclist tunnel being installed underneath a railway in just 90 hours:

  3. Schools are starting to go back, there's rain about and air quality may have taken a dip but let's celebrate what #Oxfordshire has achieved so far and make sure it stays on the agenda for future administrations. #CleanAir #AirPollution #ActiveTravel

  4. Decades too late, #Hampshire County Council are building cycling infrastructure as part of an eventual link from #Basingstoke town centre and #Dummer along the #A30 (at this rate, the whole thing might be completed by the 22nd Century). I am not sure if at-grade crossings of Ringway South are the best idea, but it's cheaper than rebuilding the subways or installing a bridge.

  7. We've been blown away by the support from ordinary people across Exeter.

Could you join them & add a fiver?

This will fund legal advice if Dryden Rd plans are presented which would make this strategic 🚲 route less safe.

  8. “Heatwaves show UK must do more to promote cycling and walking, campaigners say. Civil society groups argue climate crisis means transport sector needs to urgently reduce its carbon emissions.” And that doesn’t mean manufacturing lots more EVs which still have a substantial carbon footprint. It means more infrastructure for safe (traffic free) active travel. #Transport #Climate #ActiveTravel

  11. Perfect remains the enemy of good enough?

TBH there should be more encouragement to put #ActiveTravel schemes in that aren’t quite compliant with funding to bring them up to spec later. We seem to spend too much time navel gazing and not enough delivering.

  15. High Street residents mostly positive on city taking land for multiuse path

"It’ll connect to the existing multiuse path further south on High. The project also involves replacing two existing traffic signals and installing new stormwater infrastructure and improving crosswalks"

At the community meeting for this people barely asked about the path but were very worried about stormwater. I hope that infrastructure went well.

  18. Incentives for people who🚶‍♀️30m/day from NHS England? 19. Bloody hell, France, do you not subsidise active travel? Look at this for a journey from Cherbourg to Rennes - cheapest mode is driving a wasteful heap of metal, instead of sitting in a comfortable train & bus! In fact, looking at the SNCF site, it's far, far worse!
