  5. We've been here before so excuse me if I'm sceptical. To have _any_ hope of achieving this target, infrastructure is critical - not just "around schools" but full, safe routes/network. Government MUST address problem councils like #Warwickshire that don't deliver on promises, even when ring-fenced funding is awarded.

  6. Shocking, powerful stuff from Chris Boardman and Active Travel England.

    A study of over 100 cycle schemes has revealed that old-fashioned schemes (i.e. just painting the road) will 'kill 10% more people than doing nothing and you get no uptake because it doesn't make people feel safe', whereas a scheme designed to modern standards will get 'between 20-60% increase in uptake and halve the number of deaths.'

  7. Low Traffic Neighbourhoods evaporate traffic by about a third, which benefits everyone including vehicle drivers.

    In terms of traffic displacement, LTNs are broadly neutral, increases and reductions of traffic on peripheral roads balance each other out.
