  1. Another police chases that ends in tragedy....

...are these traffic stops worth it? The clowns they pull over seem to feed off the thrill of the chase and have a death wish 😞

  4. The Spin | Heatwaves leave groundstaff high and dry in search of playable wickets

A summer of five heatwaves and barely a drop of rain have left groundstaff wrung out as they work all hours to keep packed schedule going

  5. "In June, Finch claimed he had received “a number” of complaints from people that the county’s libraries had been “promoting contested gender ideology”, prompting Warwickshire Pride to issue a statement, and the launch of the latest misconduct investigation.

However, on Tuesday, the Labour MP Rachel Taylor accused Finch of attempting to “manufacture outrage”, citing data obtained via a freedom of information request that showed zero complaints had been made about books inappropriate for children in Warwickshire libraries since at least March 2024."

  6. I was very lucky to have the chance to see this last weekend. And it was awesome! 👍

It only has a short run in Stratford, but can see this doing very well around the globe 🌎

  7. Spies in the sky: how worried should we be about the arrival of AI-enabled smart lamp-posts?
    By Zoe Williams

The new breed of camera-equipped streetlights has the potential to fight crime and track down missing persons. Or will it just take Britain one step closer to a surveillance state?

  8. The #UK #Government has confirmed plans to reorganise local government in 14 more areas of #England, replacing two-tier council structures with new unitary authorities. The reforms aim to simplify services, reduce duplication and cut bureaucracy, with savings expected to be reinvested in priorities such as road maintenance and social care. Ministers say the changes will strengthen local leadership, support devolution and boost economic growth by improving planning, housing and infrastructure. Overall, 134 councils are expected to become 38 unitary authorities. The latest areas include #Kent and Medway, #Hertfordshire, #Nottinghamshire and #Nottingham, #Lancashire, #Devon, #Lincolnshire, #Gloucestershire, #Derbyshire, #Warwickshire, Worcestershire, #Oxfordshire, Leicester and Rutland, East Sussex and Brighton and Hove, and Staffordshire. Decisions on West Sussex and Cambridgeshire and Peterborough will be made later.

  9. I'm genuinely confused, and saddened, by Cllr Sam Jones' treatment at the hands of the Green Party: change.org/p/reinstate-sam-jon

I've written about Sam before: nfld.uk/blog/20251103-democrac

If you live in the UK, please check out Sam's social media posts, and, if you find his work as principled and uplifting as I do, please sign his petition.

  10. We've been here before so excuse me if I'm sceptical. To have _any_ hope of achieving this target, infrastructure is critical - not just "around schools" but full, safe routes/network. Government MUST address problem councils like #Warwickshire that don't deliver on promises, even when ring-fenced funding is awarded.

  11. I throughly enjoyed the Open Spaces Society members day exploring Kenilworth and the historic Parliament Piece. The myth of King Richard III holding Parliament in 1266 was debunked despite it being a fantastic story! #OpenSpacesSociety #GreenSpaces #Kenilworth #ParliamentPiece #Myths #Warwickshire #Clouds #Weather
