Going to watch one of my favourite films of all time, but for my first time on #laserdisc!
Think I'll go for the German soundtrack with the English subtitles.

Watching the UK Blu Ray of #RumbleInTheBronx; the transfer is good enough but the black levels are a crime! The letterbox bars are grey! GREY! Please tell me there's a better transfer out there somewhere. #JackieChan

I keep catching this ad on YouTube TV out of the corner of my eye and find myself wondering if they've remade #TheRoom with #TimothéeChalamet. I'm guessing it's actually for perfume or something. #TommyWiseau

Never mind #TheBeatles; it's #BandCampFriday and there's a new #Toehider EP today!
XII in XII #04 - Horse EP
It includes a new entry in their ongoing "Malcolm Saga"

Oh dear...sounds like #Criterion have poorly encoded their #Walkabout #4KBluRay; apparently it's full of compression artefacts.
I miss when Criterion used to be a hallmark of excellence. It feels like over the last ten years or so they've squandered decades of reputation.
Fingers crossed #SecondSight will put out a UK 4K disc and do it right.

Some photos from the various acoustic shows performed throughout the week. Damian Wilson, Marcela Bovio, Mike (#Toehider) Mills, and Wudstik with Marjan Welman!

I did a bit more experimentation with the #Sinclair #TV80 pocket #CRT TV over lunch and managed to get a stable video signal from ONE VHS tape.
I wonder if I'm maybe falling foul of #Macrovision copy protection?
the other tapes I tried the audio came through fine, but the video is suffering from horizontal and vertical scrolling, but with this one tape I get a clear picture but hissy audio.
Could be wifi or electricals interfering, or maybe I need to try something other than VHS.

I managed to get a bit of signal from my #VCR into the #Sinclair #TV1 / #TV80 portable TV...but not a very stable one.
VCR menus came through nice and clear, but as soon as the #video started playing I got both horizontal and vertical scrolling that I couldn't seem to tune out.
Just wrapping a coax cable around the aerial for now which seems to work for others. Might need to try stripping the cable or something. Any tips, @avavsystems?
The yellow and dark bands are just camera artefacts.

Just rewatched the excellent #LastNightInSoho and thoroughly enjoyed it again. It's just been added to UK #Netflix if you still haven't seen it.
It's odd that I picked up on the #Paprika vibes first time round but didn't make the #PerfectBlue connection. #SatoshiKon was certainly an influence.
Between the transitions and bombastic style of this film and the musicality and action of #BabyDriver I still think #EdgarWright would be the perfect choice to direct the #Highlander remake.

I really need to stop going into that #vintage shop...
Just bought an almost totally useless #Sinclair portable black and white #CRT #TV from 1983!
The #TV80 is noteworthy for using a side mounted electron gun to give a fairly flat and thin CRT!
No video inputs, but a quick look online and it seems there are ways to force a signal in there either by modding or wrapping an RF cable around the aerial...so sounds like I've got myself another project.
It even comes with the (dead) battery!

Considering my username I should really post more about #laserdiscs; that was kind of my thing over on the other site in the before times.
No idea why I've just not been in the #laserdisc zone lately. I really should sit down and watch some again soon; I've got plenty to pick from!
