It lists both the problems that Dems in #Congress will face and the powers that they will possess, with suggestions of what they should do with that power to hold members of the #Trump regime accountable, to reform the govt to prevent future abuses, and to pass legislation that will help everyday Americans.

    It's realistic, but hopeful.

  2. "“What do we do now?”

That will be the relevant question for #Democrats in the #House and #Senate if ... they win control of both houses of #Congress. There will be initial euphoria...

But the euphoria won’t last. The task for a party holding Congress and facing a hostile president with no regard for laws, norms, or the #Constitution and its separation of powers—and a #SupremeCourt that has unleashed him—will be daunting."

This article is a long and heartbreaking read, but I encourage you to read it. We cannot simply ignore what the Trump regime is doing in the name of the USA.

The #USA should not be a place where parents are forcibly separated from their children, and those #children are traumatized again and again. All are emotionally hurt, some end up physically hurt, some end up dead. All because of #Trump and those who support him.

  4. "I talked with other families with credible asylum cases who were considering going underground to avoid being separated from their children, knowing that it would likely sabotage their chances of ever gaining #legal status. This is the bracing irony of #Trump ’s deportation campaign: Its goal is to crack down on lawbreaking, but its implementation is encouraging it. Immigrants who have complied with the law are being targeted, and they are choosing to hide"

"A functioning society depends on trust: trust between citizens, trust in institutions, and the assumption that most people around us are not our enemies. Terrorism attacks exactly that trust.

    Mass surveillance does, too.

It tells everyone that everyone is potentially suspicious."

The future is something that *we* make.👈 And despite the horrible death toll that's locked in by waves of climate shocks - presided over by the dying, fumbling "drink bleach" guy - it's conceivable that the future we get will be a *good* one, if not an easy one."
