  3. Code Project: VLC Portable Playlist to Text Dump
It's kind of funny how one post can lead to another sometimes.  This one is pretty basic but it also just shows a bit how useful I find knowing my way around computer systems to be.  Yesterday I posted about my little annual music playlists.  And as part of that, I wanted to actually post the playlist. I am pretty sure there is a fairly uni

  4. @bitwarden @tylersaunders There are cases where #sqllite is an adequate solution. I'm not sure all of my encrypted secrets are one of those cases. I highly recommend checking out the db-backup container from Dave Conroy. It has been absolutely bulletproof for me. Keeping a week's worth of daily backups on a rolling schedule. With that container running (one for #mariadb and one for #postgres) it pushes files into my server where they get managed by my normal backup mechanisms.

It seems the SQLlite version I found available is being deprecated, so that leaves 2 of the 3.

And, @AHollowedHunter - if you already have a NAS box, it might be worth checking if it has an existing app for vaultwarden or maybe even #keePass or something similar.

Well, if it is helpful for anyone else... a quick hunch led me to see if #Vaultwarden was available in some form for my #NAS , and it turns out that it is, and in 3 'flavors' in my case...

All docker versions and the differences are basically what DB they use. #MariaDB , #PostgreSQL , and I'll assume the 3rd is #SQLlite, as it is just titled as Vaultwarden.

Hopefully, it will allow me to keep it in-house only since there's little chance of me ever doing some #proxy setup to the web.

  11. @danbri saw you where looking to store rdf in sqllite. Without a JVM I can say that #ontop can be compiled to a native executable with #duckdb.

  21. @Zenie @takeonrules #gnus has a lot of serialization code to manage #emacs alists and hashtables.

I think #lmdb might be a nice binary format for #emacs if it was integrated into the core (would be a nice project). Otherwise there’s built-in #sqllite support since Emacs 29 that you could consider.

  22. Anyone have an up-to-date web server setup guide they recommend?

Need to spin up nginx, with PHP, SQLLite (and maybe Redis). Want to ensure I'm following all modern best practices - I haven't done this in 3 or 4 years.

    ✅ Preferably with Ubuntu.

  23. A general #softwareengineering question, when using the word #embedded how do you distinguish between embedded as in #firmware vs #embedded as in in process like a programming language like #lua that is used in a game engine or a database like #sqllite or #duckdb that (can potentially) run in the host application. As in do you use different terms like #embeddedsystems or #EmbeddedSoftware to refer to one or the other? Or am I completely off base here?
