  6. In the 2nd Talk of the day - Andrew Northall taked about Caving (he really does that for fun!?) and how he collects and analyzes accident reports into structured data. One problem was the specificity of Data - he solved that by adding Treebeard to have a hierarchy of data that can be searched.

  7. Last year at #DjangoCon US, Lisa Dusseault showed off the data pipeline framework, Phaser. I enjoyed this talk because it made me realize I should revisit how data processing in my project should work.

    better-simple.com/lunch-talks/

This talk is worth watching if you're interested in:
    - Contributing to Phaser
    - Data pipeline frameworks
    - Learning how to approach building your own framework

  8. Technically, I didn't wait until the last minute to submit a talk proposal for #DjangoConUS this year - there's still 10 hours left!

That means *you* also have time to submit a talk for #DjangoCon!

There is lots of good info and inspiration at the #CFP page, so if you have been on the fence, hop over and submit that proposal! You have until 2026-03-23 11:00 (America/Chicago)

We'd love to have you on our stage this year, but you have to get your talk proposal in by Monday at 11am Chicago time: pretalx.com/djangocon-us-2026/

  10. 4️⃣ days until the DjangoCon US CFP closes. Get us those amazing talk proposals!

We'll even cover some of your travel costs to beautiful downtown Chicago if your talk is accepted.

  11. 👀 I'm not sure when Vivaldi added this split-pane tiling window feature, but I love the hell out of it. There are a ton of options, but I have been blissfully using it for the last 3 to 4 weeks, and it's wonderful.

PSA: @djangocon had to move the conference up a few weeks to August 24th to the 28th because venues...

I hope to still see you there!

  12. If you are curious, I collected all the material from my talk at DjangoCon US 2025 in a blog post.

It includes the abstract, slides, the recorded video, and a short overview of the topics I covered.

  14. Back in September, I gave a talk at DjangoCon titled: A(i) Modest Proposal

The video is now available for viewing:

    djangotv.com/videos/djangocon-

The first half is kind of esoteric, so stick with it.

To give you a taste, this is sort of the starting off premise:

We're now living in a current tech landscape that favors wealthy venture capitalists and ultra wealthy CEOs. Their worldview is intoxicated with visions of unbridled and unregulated technological growth, no matter what it costs.

  15. 📺 DjangoCon US 2025 videos are up 🎉

This also caps off a week's worth of updates on DjangoTV, including the dreaded, very random 153 errors, which should finally be gone.

  16. Better late than never.

Here's my review of DjangoCon US 2025 in Chicago. foxleytalent.com/blog/djangoco

It was a whirlwind trip with plenty of Django, NFL and MLB games, golf, meals out and the chance to meet lots of amazing people!

If you like the sound of DjangoCon (and Chicago) then you're in luck. The conference will be back in the windy city again next year!

    @foxleytalent

  17. YouTube is annoying. We ran into 153 errors at DjangoCon US because of some changes YouTube were A/B testing.

Today, I noticed they rolled it out and all of our video embeds on djangotv.com were causing 153s until I deployed the latest version of lite-youtube-embed.

If anyone sees a feature or bug and you want to report it, I track them on github.com/django-news/djangot and eventually get around to them.

  22. I just met a young man from Pittsburgh with 4 years of programming/ECE experience who asked about my laptop stickers. We had a great conversation. We chatted about Python, WebDev, embedded, electronics, school, travel - just a wonderful & welcome break from my typical coffee shop hyperfocus.

I encouraged him to get to a #PyConUS or #DjangoCon if it works out at some point. Hopefully we'll all see Travis online or at a convention.

    This has happened many times.

    Get some #LaptopStickers!

  23. We just had our first hybrid meeting of the Django project website working group. 🎉

Sarah Abderemane and I joined the meeting from the DjangoCon Europe venue, and we hosted Tobias McNulty from the Django Ops Team. 🤗

  26. 🏆 and the award for the smallest Venn Diagram Intersection of 2024 goes to...

...people in the Python/Django Community that play golf! ⛳

One of my absolute highlights from this year was playing golf with @wsvincent

Let me know if you play regularly and I'll create a group-chat somewhere for all of us to chat golf and Python/Django...

We might even have enough people to make up a fourball for a round at both DjangoCons next year!
