  1. Going to try out Duranium on my old pixel 3. So glad I didn't sell that when I was offloading things. Immutable postmarketOS sounds like such a fun project to tinker with.

  2. While I'm posting obscure hardware woes in a time when buying hardware sucks, I need to get a server rack for my homelab. In general I know folks tend to hate wall mounted because it can hinder back access, but I don't have many options as space is limited.

Looking at tripplite.eaton.com/smartrack-. I'm hoping to buy once, cry once and get a rack that'll last a while. Currently running 12 disks in a tower and looking to move to a netapp ds4246.

  3. Welp because I'm dumb and didn't understand the 5v power (orange pi) vs 5v microcontroller (uart cable, orange pi wanted 3.3), I'm fairly certain I fried my 16gb orange pi 5.

SBCs are pricey these days so that's a mega bummer. Anyone have any tricks or tips for attempting to breathe life into this thing?

  4. Fedi, I'm at a total loss on how to sort this one out. I've got an Elgato wave: 3 that worked great for 18 months and one day after updates it stopped registering input.

Its odd, it shows up normally in ALSA and pipewire. Volume and mute status work in software and hardware and accurately update when one is changed.

It just won't let me talk into it 😥.

  5. Unsure if this is a US only problem (we've got so many) but I am so tired of getting unsolicited texts for various business offers and real estate and whatnot. It doesn't matter if you're on the DoNotCall registry or not, because it doesn't cover SMS.

It would be a shame if someone put some energy into a reverse list and tool, where spammers were signed up for SMS alerts and communications for silly things.
