This dude decided to be cheeky and knock on the window to let us know that one of the feeders is empty. This was early in the morning and although there was faint smell of smoke sky hadn't turned full sepia yet. I couldn't take picture when he started knocking as I didn't have my phone on me and by the time i grabbed the phone, he had turned his back on us

Vegetables garden is looking nice. We turned over the soil and mixed chicken poop pellets in before planting this time.
There are onions, cabbage, lettuce and broccoli. Now to guard them from resident bunny.

anyone here into metal working, specifically lathe and milling? I am looking to ease into it as a way to machne some simple parts like knurled knobs etc from soft metal like brass and aluminum. I have been looking for either taig, sherline or unimat but I am looking for resources that would give me introduction to metalworking on lathe and mill. could one of you be kind enough to point me in right direction? I have line on a used millLathe which is one of the tabletop/miniature lathe/mill combos that uses dremel or similar as cutter head.

Harvest from our little cherry tree. We harvest them before they fully ripen because my wife is mildly allergic to cherries and can only eat them before skin of the fruit fully darkens.

I am looking for recommendation on a KVM switch for my work desk. something that can be capable of sharing 2-3 USB ports, keyboard+mouse & monitor between my work laptop and personal desktop. I am looking at the prospect of year or so of significant downsizing and will not have large workspace. I am going from 2story single detached to a 600sqft-ish studio apartment as we wait for our forever home to be constructed.

My monitor is 144hz 34" UW and I would like to also be able to switch my webcam & speakerphone along with KB+rodent. so what has worked for you? I unfortunately don't have $600 to spend on cadilac of a KVM, but happy to settle for a corola or camry.

When I was growing up in India, you had to score certain percentage across board during your 10th grade exam to be able to get into science stream which in turn allowed you to get into either medical or engineering stream or graduate as just Bachlor of Science. if you couldn't score needed percentage you tried for commerce stream which meant you could be a CPA, CGA, CA etc... worst case was if you didn't score enough percentage there in which case you were relegated to arts college. In 1982 when I finished my 10th grade, although I scored high on math and science my overall grade was barely enough to make it to science stream. my father was simple govt employee and would not have been able to pay for private engineering/science school. so he urged me to take commerce stream instead. However as consolation price he agreed to let me take a computer programming course at a private institution. I learnt how to program in BASIC on Tandy TRS-80 computer. I will be forever grateful to him for that. For although I was an utter failure in school having lost all interest in studies, I took to programming like fish to water. School where I learnt hire me as teaching assistant to teach 10-12yr old kids right after I finished my course which allowed me to keep learning. I convinced them to pay me only half the salary ( equivalent to $12/mo at that time ) and let me sit in on COBOL programming classes instead. Only condition was that paying students got first priority when it came to booking computer time for actual coding practice. So I used to just write my code on coding sheets by hand and keep it ready. classes used to close at 10 and usually teachers used to stay on for another hour and half or so. so I used to get my keyboard time in during 10pm-11:30pm and usually had to be shooed out so that school could be closed for the night.
