I am looking for recommendation on a KVM switch for my work desk. something that can be capable of sharing 2-3 USB ports, keyboard+mouse & monitor between my work laptop and personal desktop. I am looking at the prospect of year or so of significant downsizing and will not have large workspace. I am going from 2story single detached to a 600sqft-ish studio apartment as we wait for our forever home to be constructed.

My monitor is 144hz 34" UW and I would like to also be able to switch my webcam & speakerphone along with KB+rodent. so what has worked for you? I unfortunately don't have $600 to spend on cadilac of a KVM, but happy to settle for a corola or camry.

I just plugged in a new keyboard at my desk in the office. Just test driving it. It is not as nice as the one it replaces, but it has a number pad and I had reached the point where I couldn’t live without one anymore.

Long live the new not-quite-as-clicky, clicky keyboard.

One 43" 4K monitor logically split to six monitors arranged 2x3 (using FancyZones, PowerToys). Active windows in the top row; reference windows in the bottom row.

14" laptop screen on the side with things that cause notifications (mail, phone link,. ) or play media. Turned ~45° angle, placed on a laptop stand, so I can easily glance.

At least two, up to four, virtual desktops, one for each "purpose".

Just what I need, another desk.

The mouse pad, mechanical (clicky) keyboard, the coily cable of truth, the headset/mic, and the laptop stand are all my wife’s. The iPhone charger, the mouse, the USB C adapter, and the USB hub are mine (as well as the water bottle, the glasses case, and the box of tissues). The laptop and the monitor (and the chair and the desk itself) belong to the company.

It took almost five minutes for me to turn the workspace into a cable spaghetti horror show, but it’s going to be better than living out of a backpack (which is mostly out of frame to the right) every time I have to come into the office.
