Harvest season is upon us. chillies are really sweet with portion close to stem starting to get some kick. Both tomatos are chillies are about 5% of what is still to be harvested.
Anyone got good recipes for salsa? we will can some tomato puree but we don't really eat pasta so pasts sauce will just be wasted. Any other ideas?

#Cucamelons aka #MouseMelon aka #Pepquinos are easy to grow & do well in PNW areas. Fruits are size of large grapes & they taste like sour cucumbers. Good for pickling. You can eat them raw, like cucumbers. I like dipping them raw into sea salt with some chopped red chili peppers.

It's native range goes from Mexico to Venezuela. Many people grow it in different areas of the world as a food crop.

First batch of hot sauce is done! I am working on a new recipe (my others have been strongly popular, judging by my site stats), and I made 4 litres of this today. It has #amaryllatomatillo and #sugarrushpeach #hotpeppers as a base, with peaches to make it taste like sweet and spicy pie.

I have a few tweaks for the next run, but am pretty satisfied with "entry level heat" sauce. I prefer mine spicier, but I think even my spouse can manage this one. 😂🤷‍♂️

It’s 32C in the shade outside, so spending the afternoon heat inside. Time to use my homegrown apricots to make apricot and ginger jam.

Simple recipe:
2kg chopped apricots
1 cup of water
2 lemons - juice and rind (finely chopped)
2 tablespoon finely chopped fresh ginger root
1kg sugar

Should make a dozen small jars of jam.
