  8. CW: mythological r*pe/assault

#conversationstarter for #pagans and or #witches etc of a #Hellenic/#Greek/#Orphic sort: how do you reconcile your path with the undeniably problematic and r*pey aspects of the deities/theoi? I mean, #Zeus was AWFUL (and many of the male-presenting deities weren’t much better).

I have a perspective but I don’t identify as a pagan, so I want to hear more so I stay as respectful as possible b4 I share. Please use content warnings in answers that may be triggering thx!

  9. TIL a Greek origin myth for #garlic.

"In Greek #mythology, Zeus’s [edit— Apollon’s] son #Asclepius became so skilled at #herbal remedies that he was believe to even raise the dead. This angered Hades and so Zeus killed Asclepius with a lightening bolt and sent the rains to drown his writings on immortality. The parchment he was writing on soaked into the earth, thus becoming garlic: immortal gift of the fallen Asclepius."

  14. IMO, you can't be a #Hermeticist if you've never read The #Hermetica, Kore Kosmos, or Latin Asklepios (and don't get me started on The Kybalion, that worthless piece of mushy nothingness).

  15. CW: Meta newbie stuff

I am totally sold on content warnings #CW over here when appropriate. Why be aggrieved when you can be kind to someone? I hope if i ever post something y’all think needed one, you’ll DM me to let me know! #metadon

  16. Sometimes when I think of the boom in #AI #OpenAIChat online, I’m reminded of #plato’s Phaedrus, in which he argued that the written word would be the downfall of knowledge:

“It will implant forgetfulness in their souls. They will cease to exercise memory because they rely on that which is written, calling things to remembrance no longer from within themselves, but by means of external marks.” 🧵

  17. Awww, boo. RIP to a real one. #TheClean were always on rotation during my college days and the decade thereafter. #HamishKilgour #DunedinSound
