Tthe most immediately concerning thing about #ChatGPT is the certainty with which it will outright lie to you. The trick is, how do you know what is true and what is not? The bot doesn't actually know either in most cases.

Ich hab das mal mit Lauch, Mett und Zuckerguss probiert.

After a lot of (deserved) mocking and memes, I have been using OpenAI's Chat web interface to help with some boilerplate-y writing for a nonprofit that I am on the board of, and it has honestly helped a ton. These are things that I absolutely could write, and have written before, but getting a full, nicely-worded base to then work from and incorporate feedback into has been a genuine timesaver for an organization that is entirely run by volunteers.

Sometimes when I think of the boom in #AI #OpenAIChat online, I’m reminded of #plato’s Phaedrus, in which he argued that the written word would be the downfall of knowledge:
