  1. @Bfordham @TheGreatLlama I didn't realize telling abused women to stop bitching about how awful their partners were & to just leave their relationships was quite cruel, it was judgemental/ignorant, especially when I wasn't providing them with safe places to go. My karma for being that way was experiencing 2 abusive relationships after. I've never judged any person being abused again & ceased tone policing of people suffering from abuses that I was ignorant about, when I was younger & not as life experienced. I try to do better, when I have learned better.

  7. Released v1.0 of my utility to parse files from the #WorkOutDoors app.

It's something I wrote for myself, and it's totally unofficial. I've been warned that the format may change with each release.

Check it out and let me know if you find it useful

  8. TL;DR: What are good methods for managing a few hundred bots on #GoToSocial?

I talked a couple weeks ago about my project tot make it easier to follow the work of the #Georgia state legislature.*

I'm hoping to take the initial API live in a couple of days. But now I'm thinking ahead to the Fediverse accounts I want to have.

In addition to the main, summary accounts, I intend to have accounts for each district, so "(at)GaSenate1" for Senate district 1 (no tags on those posts, you either follow or you don't.)

I've written number of bots, but handling bot overhead - not to mention authentication to get the tokens - seems a bit daunting when you're talking about 250is accounts.

What are some good ways to do this? Since I'll control the server and everything I'd like to script as much as possible. And I probably won't use actual bot code for the posts, just end point points directly.

  9. After about 6 weeks off, @chapterbychapter returns tomorrow with a serialization of Frankenstein, by Mary Shelley.

As I've said before*, she doesn't get enough credit for her impact on science fiction. Odd that a story written by a young woman (published at 20) would be overlooked 🤔

Anyway, follow chapter bot to get a chapter a day, Victorian-Netflix style.

  12. Do you know of any black, indigenous, and/or woman-owned businesses selling #candles

I'm looking to get some votive candle holders, and probably will be getting some candles in the nearish future.

I'd probably prefer companies relatively near me (I'm in coastal Georgia) but I'm open to suggestions. I've found a few but they're mostly West Coast.

  17. Deciding that I wanted to wear bowties years ago was one of the most fun decisions I ever made. Mostly the decision was to get over the fact that anyone actually cared what I wore.

Though people do notice bowties. And are impressed if you actually know how to tie one, though IMO it's simpler than a Windsor knot.

  21. Random memory that came up recently:

Around 2018 or so I was working at a great little company in downtown #Savannah I went into the office once or twice a week and, when I was there, I'd walk two blocks or so down the Coffee Fox.

One particular day I'm strolling along and, right outside the Fox, this young college-aged gal approaches me and says, "Excuse me, I know this is weird, but can I take a picture with you? We're doing a scavenger hunt for class, and I need someone wearing a bowtie."

And that's how I ended up standing on Broughton street, taking selfies with half a dozen or so SCAD students.
